Just ordered an avic-z1, any tips?
I just ordered an pionner avic-z1 and I'm pretty excited but I do have a few questions regarding the installation. I have a SC300
-Speed senor wire: Does this help the gps or something? Is it needed? Where would I find what it looks like
-I have an power antennea, how would I connect this so it activates it with the radio.
Any help is appreciated or links to where to get help is appreciated.
I'll post pics when it's installed. Thanks

the speedsensor is more accurate then the GPS. You can run it without, but why would you want to?
for the powerantenna, there is a wire you can hook up to it, if i had the diagram i would show you, but i believe on the Z1 it's just he blue w/white stripe

The speed sensor wire works in conjunction with the gps. It tells the navi system how far you've gone or how far you're from the next point by your speed. The gps does not maintain a constant signal to the satellites but updates your position every now and then. So hooking the speed sensor will increase the accuracy of the system.

Is this a DIY install in a 99 GS with the Nakamichi HU?
Does anyone have some instructions on how to do this install with a D1?

I wonder where I can find a wiring diagram for the 2nd gen GS............ ?

i have been reading all the posts and it seems like that there is alot of noise when we install the eclipse and pioneer hu navi systems.
so the solutions
i guess are to run wires from hu to the speakers, and amp
get a noise canceling device
well thats all that i came across, is this nessesary, will all installs have this noise?
how is this noise avoidable other than the 2 mentioned above? are there other options

The speed sensor is critical for dead reckoning, which tracks your position if you lose your GPS signal. This is a sophisticated feature that you pay a premium to get, but you may not need it if you live in the desert.
Finding the wire was a challenge for my installer, and I had to go online and show him DaveGS4's excellent, detailed posting with photos that point to its location for a GS4.
Never been a fan of noise-cancelling devices because they usually rob the audio spectrum to solve a cabling issue. Invest in decent wires, keep the audio signals away from the power line and use the battery ground to avoid creating a ground loop.
