Pics of my completed system
Headunit: Eclipse AVN5435
American International GS Dash kit
Front Speakers: Focal 165 V1 6.5" Components on custom made baffle boards
Rear Speakers: Boston Acoustic SX65 6.5" 2way Coaxs on custom made baffle boards
Amplifier: JL Audio e6450 45w x 6ch
Subwoofer: Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 10"
Power cables: Streetwires 4g Kit
Audio cables: JL Audio Premium Patch Cables
As you can see I went with a "near stock" look as much as possible. I did the entire install myself except the custom baffle boards which were made by LexTPOP. I didn't want to take off my door panels to take some pics but if I get enough requests I'll pop them off for a few pics. As for the sub, I made a spacer out of 3/4" wood and mounted it underneath the deck. I did try the sub first in a sealed box but astonishingly it sounds just as good mounted free-air. Overall the difference is night and day. Here are the pics:

Having any problems with the Infinity woofer in a free-air setup? I didnt think they were free air. How exactly did you mount the woofer. Looks like with some heavy base or al ot of speedbumps it would fall out from the bottom. Looking clean otherwise.

nice choice on the 6450 and the focals
our shop sells TONS of focals and I love the way they sound. Looks very clean for doing it yourself too. Us with the SCs don't have many options for free air subs though looks like the false floor is gonna have to be in the works for me.

EV ftw!!!
Excellent install!!! Kudos to you for doing this yourself. Do you have an electronics background or is your knowledge of this stuff strictly DIY hobby?
I wish I could install my audio system myself - sitting in the garage collecting dust as I can't afford to pay a professional to install it.
I especially like the clean factory look on your dash. Can you post a link regarding the dash kit? How much was it?
Excellent job overall!!!

The A/C controls on your GS look just like the one in my 99 LS. I don't suppose that dash kit would fit in my LS just the same?
*Edit - found the double din plate at L-Tuned Parts. It says it fits the GS but not the LS. I wonder how different the two cars really are in that respect.
And like the others said - good job on that super clean install!

Looks good - one comment though, your bolts holding the wood baffle to the deck really should be beefier, and they should have larger diameter washers to distribute load and prevent them from pulling through. Don't forget, the woofer, with its large magnet, represents quite a bit of torque during acceleration, turns, and bumps. You don't want them to work their way out over time. The rear deck is very thin and pliable as well.
Good job though.
