Default Install of V1, vaistech, sirius - advice

Hello all,

A month ago I bought a 2002 silver/black GS430 with nav and Levinson. A great car so far.

I want to do the "cleanest" possible install of the following products...

Valentine1 with concealed display w/power tap.
Vaistech AIC-100i (Ipod integration)
Sirius Sportster Replay (Using AIC-100i aux input) w/power tap.

Has anybody installed the AIC-100i in a 2nd gen GS yet? If so, did you have nav and Levinson?

The Sportster is sort of a large receiver. Any mounting location suggestions?

Any recommendations for a a shop in St. Louis to do the install?

Thanks in advance.

Bill

Welcome to CL.

As we veterans tell all the NewBies, do an advanced search and you will find tons of discussions on most questions you have.

Do a seach for "valentine" and you will find info on my concealed display install below.

If you don't mind destroying your clock with a dremmel, you can do ^^^

Or you can check out my first ClubLexus post.

Though I caution that the V1 won't keep them from tailing you...and determining that you were going over 100mph...but repsecting your car and not arresting you. Story.

Since I have an aftermarket head that includes a clock, no need for redundancy.

Well, I guess I deserve being called a newbie and being removed from the GS thread. I have already searched quite a few posts but I didn't give the proper detail of what I was looking for; installing a V1, Vais, and iPod photo into SPECIFICALLY a 2nd gen GS430.

First, the Vais product. I haven't received the product yet, first of all. But, in speaking with Vaistech, the best place to install their product is BEHIND THE CLOCK. I guess the first question might be, would the V1 conceal unit fit WITH the Vais product. I guess I'll find out.

Second, properly mounting the iPod AND the Sirius Sportster. Again, in the spirit of half-assed research, I'm looking for a good, external FLEXIBLE mounting bracket for the Sportster. You know, something like those old cell phone brackets that mounted to either the floor or, gasp, the cigarette lighter and was connected to a sturdy flexible tube. It would mount between the passenger seat and the center console and could be pushed down out of the way. With the iPod, since I'll be using the car audio system to control it, I could just put that in the center console I suppose. Any alternative configs to suggest?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Bill

You might want to try a gooseneck mounting bracket if you want that moveability.
Try this:

remote display on top of steering wheel and V1 attached to bottom of rearview mirror. i use duralock to attach the main unit to the bottom of the mirror. not attached to the windshield, this makes it very difficult for the po po to see the detector from outside the vehicle. i am planning on putting the remote display inside the speedo on the right, covering up speeds from 120 to 140, which i really don't use anyway. currently it kinda blocks view to the warning lights.

engin_ear,

Thanks for the suggestion. I think the word I was looking for was "gooseneck".

Seriously.

I did a search on satellite radio and gooseneck and got the perfect product at

www.mesztek.com

A 15" Flexible Gooseneck satellite radio mount (works with XM or Sirius)

Hope direct link works...

Thanks again
