As I get closer to my LS430 dream, I'd like to share my multimedia equipment plans for a 2001 or 2002 Millennium Silver Navi + Mark Levinson system with 17" wheels.
First off the Mark Levinson system is probably one of the best audio systems available in a new car, so I don't plan on replacing it, but instead building a multimedia system that will compliment it. Here is a list of equipment and modifications planned so far.
Up front:
1. Relocate the 6 disc in-dash CD changer from the center console to the glove box.
2. Install a Pioneer AVX-7300 7" screen in the old 6 disc changer center console location. This provides dual displays for navi and video at the same time.
3. Place a Pioneer Audio Video Master Unit (AVM-P9000R) for Dolby Digital / DTS audio with on screen 3D user interface w/SuperTuner and Pioneer GEX-p7000 TV tuner in the trunk next to navigation computer.
4. Mount a Pioneer 6 disc DVD-Changer XDV-P9 in glove box (or trunk).
5. Interface the AVM-P9000R master unit to factory navi video display for flick of a switch change-over from navi to video.
6. Mount a center channel speaker in the dash or on top of dash (TBD).
7. Interface the AVM-P9000 master unit to deliver 5.1 channel preamp or speaker output to Mark Levinson system.
8. Add steering wheel infrared programmable remote control. Adding 4 or 5 additional buttons to the steering wheel as required.
9. Add Pioneer CD-CM1 cell phone mute and CD-VC60 voice control modules.
10. Possability of 7" LCD's mounted in driver and passenger flip-down visors.
Note: If any improvement is to be made to sound quality it will be replacing the subwoofer and speakers 1st.
Rear:
1. Order extra set of head rests, use Pioneer AVD-W8000 if they will fit.
2. Pair of Sony wireless virtual Dolby Digital/DTS headphones.
3. Maybe a game console mounted in the back center seat opening to trunk.
Any others thoughts? I'd would sure like to add DVD-Audio (DVD-A) format too, but until more car audio manufactures make car audio DVD-A players; Panasonic's CQ-DVR909U will remain the only choice.
