just finished changing out the pioner stock head unit out of my 2000 GS4... on the back, there is the radio antenna plug, but there is also a smaller one right next to it... does anyone know what this smaller one is for? thanks...

That's a diversity antenna system. One is a standard plug, the other is a slightly smaller plug. McIntosh head units (and some Clarion) use this scheme for picking up stronger signals between the two antennas. Yes, there are TWO antennas in the back window on the GS and LS series. Look carefully and you'll find them.

yeah, i do see those... do you know of any type of adapter that allows you to use both of these plugs with an Alpine IVA ? it only has the one radio plug in. it seems like all you'd need to do is tie both of the radio plugs into one...
i'm curious because the radio signal with the new head unit is little less powerful than it was with the stock pioneer.

I've never seen an adapter...would be interesting though. Best aftermarket tuners are in the McIntosh/Clarion high end units. Beats out everyone else. If you've ever looked inside these head units you'll know why...lots of HUGE parts for the tuner!
