nakamichi vs pioneer
I'm newer to this forum. I've searched through a lot of the old posts and I'm more confused now that I was before I started. I've read that the nakamichi setup for the SC model had one 5 channel amp and the pioneer system (lexus premium sound) has two amps, one 4 channel and 1 for the sub.
My head unit has the nakamichi emblem on it. The original sticker denotes the upgraded nakamichi sound system. It has a 12 cd changer in the trunk. I haven't pulled the changer up to see if there is a nakamichi amp underneath it, but I'm sure there is. The rear speakers are nakamichi. Here's where I'm lost. The subwoofer is a pioneer model and it has it's own separate pioneer amp.
It seems like I have both systems in one.
The only thing I can figure is the original owner had the nakamichi system and wanted more bass so he added a separate amp and different sub. Any ideas?

I have the Nak in my 92 SC and the rear speakers are not labeled Nakamichi (nor are they labeled Pioneer). In any case, what's important is that the electronics are Nak- the speakers are no big deal. To read up on just how lucky you are to have the Nak head unit, continue your search and be sure to read posts by "lexusaudio".
