The XM kit contains the receiver, antenna and lots of wiring harnesses. The car needs quite a bit of disassembling and reassembling. The radio kit cost me $470 plus $285 for installation. If you can do the install yourself – do it.
The bottom line is it is great to have the XM integrated into the NAV/Radio and have the controls in the touch screen. $975 does sound high. Shop other dealers.

Is there a reason that this would not work with my 2002 ES 300 with the ML/NAV? Or am I missing something?

Does the XM kit come with any instructions/diagrams for the install and wire routing??

No - but it you join the Lexus Techinfo at http://techinfo.lexus.com/ you can join for 1 day for somthing like $10 - and you will have access to all the tech support materials the dealer has. This includes all the installation instructions, repair manuals, etc...

Thanks for the info - I did join the tech site a few weeks ago (one day) for info on the 2005 GX - should have looked then, but I'll keep it in mind.

Lexus just recently said that the ES 330 XM radio kit wont work on a car without the 6 disk in dash changer. (IE bone stock radio)

Wont the trim peices and ash-tray crack or break when your pulling them off with force? I need to get behind my ash-tray, but im a little nervous about pulling out those things by hand....

Default XM Radio for a 2004 ES 330 with Nav & ML

I read with interest all of these postings from the past few years and have contacted my local Lexus dealer about having an XM module installed. It seems everywhere I look in regards to XM compatiblity that my 2004 ES 330 Nav/ML system can't support Sat emulation. Even the VAIS website says I can only have CD emulation but I'm staring at the AM/SAT button on my system. Did the 2004 ES 330 sneak in the SAT capability on some models or is it the fact that I've got the Nav/ML system? Has anyone had a Lexus dealer of late install a XM module for them? Would appreciate some info here. I just bought this vehicle and am extermely gun shy in taking anything apart to install anything myself. Yep, I fully support those technically competent folks who do this for a living.

Question VAIS SoundLinq2 SL2xmt Sound Quality Issue

I've installed a SoundLinq2 SL2xmt in my 2004 ES330 and the sound quality is similar to that of an AM Radio. Not even close to FM quality. I'm using the SAT Emulation. VAIS tested the unit and stated it is working as designed in their tech center (better than FM quality). Has anyone encountered this or any ideas on why this may be happening? The unit is being shipped back to me from VAIS with new cabling. If this doesn't work, it's headed for the classifieds. Thanks.

I have no idea about the product you bought but sounds like a basic case of buying crap. Good luck getting rid of it.
