Line Level Hack CAN DO!

I have sucessfully documented my second hack into an SC stereo. The first time, using Xtant amps and their line level input function - I used the speaker wires, was ok (that was in a sc400 with a NAK). This time I wanted to entirely bypass the 'amp-in-another-amp' setup and remove the factory amp.
It was easily done within 1.5 hrs! I used the head unit inputs and attached RCA's, the head unit also puts out a remote turn on which I utilized. Also, by bypassing the factory amp, it was possible to get rid of the annoying 'search' beep.
The system sounds ten times better and I can keep the stock look up front! I will install a quality DSP or EQ to help tailor the sound.
email or reply if you need help or more info.

Any chance of a documented procedure on this board? Interesting!

Won't work on GS400/300/430
Nice to know that it works on the SC series. But, this won't work on the GS ('98 up) due to the fact that the head unit only puts out one set of left and right outputs. No fader. Connector is much different also! But, it's a great piece of info for SC owners!

The pinouts are going to be different for the LS. Get a wiring diagram for your model and compare it to the SC - (which has been posted up here and is probably also on that site).
Same dance, different tune.

From what I remember, no can do with the GS, 2nd Gen. Pioneer is pretty much out of the question. Nak...have to look at specs again (if I can find them!) but doubt it also. SC owners got lucky!

No hack for just the subs only. I'd suggest a line out converter from the sub output, then to the amp of your choice, then to the sub that you're going to use.

You can take the line level outputs from the GS's Nak headunit - but you'll need to filter to get the separate sub output. This can easily be done by using a suitably equipped amp, or a pair of amps where one (highs/mids) has highpass filtering and a feed-thru output, and the other (sub amp) has the lowpass filter for the sub.
I can't recall the headunit wiring colors. If you can get your hands on a schematic, you can find the + and - wires and attach RCAs to go into aftermarket amp(s).
If you're doing subs only, take Percy's advice and use an LLC off of the stock amp's sub leads.
