Sc300 System Question
*** MODS please dont move this to the audio section as the posts in that forum are never seen by as many people, and this is not a general lexus audio question. This has to do ONLY with the sc300 / 400 sound system. Thanks! ***
Ok well anyone here that has a sub in the truck of an SC will know how hard it is to get good bump from the car. The gas tank / steal plate combo is not condusive for the sub to put quality sound into the cab of the car. Now the first thing that EVERY SC owner with a sub in the trunk must do is remove that metal cover behind the rear seats (do a search to find out how, someone on here wrote a really good one). That will make your bass honestly around 30-40% louder in the car. However it is still nowhere near the sound you get from a car like a mustang or something with just seats (that can be put down) seperating the trunk. I also took out the stock sub for more airflow into the car.
I have had many different sub / amp / box combos and im just wondering who here has something that hits really hard. Something that shakes the car, and you can hear from 50 feet away. Not decent bass but LOUD bass. Im sure most of you here dont even want really loud bass, and would rather have just a nice quality low in your music....but not me.
As of now I have one JL 12w6 in a 3 cubic foot ported box powered with a 500s rockford amp. Now in a normal car this would HIT....dont get me wrong you can hear it for sure, ppl know i have a sub, but it is just not hitting HARD. I know someone here has something that bumps, so just let me know.
sorry for the long post.....quite stoned as i type
Thanks!

Tommy, you can put disclaimers on the threads until you are blue in the face, we have specific forums for a reason.

I have two 12W3s in a Prowedge box, pried the metal plate off, removed the free-air, removed the trunk lining, removed spare tire, lining and cover, dynamated entire trunk, gas tank and rear deck, and stuffed polyfill into the two air vent boxes behind the wheel wells, so I've done pretty much every diy you can to the SC for bass clarity. The box currently sits on top of the subframe rails around the spare tire well. I thought I had great bass at that point until I began tuning the receiver and amp eqs more precisely. This does a world of difference when you are pushing the subs to their limits. If you want any more grounb-thumping bass, check out what rthammar did to his SC. That system knocks. 97SC's system also beats out from 50 feet away...
