Got Into Accident & Radio is Not Working
My sc300 recently was in a accident. The rear drivers side quarter panel took most of the impact.
I'm tryin to fix as much as I can on my own. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to go about finding an electrical problem with the radio. The radio plays very softly when the volume is turned all to maximum volume. While driving the car, sometimes the radio returns to full volume for a bried second then cuts back out. I'm assuming there is a loose connection. Using if-then logic, I would assume that there is a loose connection in my trunk somewhere.
I hope this makes sense. Any advice to help me find my radio problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jason

If you have either the premium system or the Nakamichi system there is an amp in the Passenger side lower corner under the CD changer. Even though you were hit on the other side you may just want to check all the connections as something may have come loose with the hit.

The amplifier there may have sustained damage. It is UNDER the changer on the right side (trunk). If that was hit hard enough, it is probably damaged.
Seriously.
Sorry to hear of your loss

Thanks for everyones help.
Still haven't fixed the problem yet. However, the radio returns to full volume for a split second when making hard right turns. Honestly, this sounds more like a loose connection problem rather than a busted amp. If the amp is busted, would i be able to wire up an aftermarket amp in order to test if the amp is at fault?
Thanks,
Jason

Well sounds like your antenna has some issues. The low signal strength is due to bad reception. Once you get a signal for a brief second it blasts because you have the volume turned up. Open your trunk and look at the left side. Remove the cover on the side wall and you will see the antenna mechanism. Inspect for damage. First check the connector that provides power to the unit. If this is damaged then you might want to repair this or your antenna won't go up and down anymore. Check the other connector that is actually the antenna wire going to the headunit. This could be loose or it could be bent, broken, etc.
After I got hit and run in that panel my radio did not work because the painter never reattached the power cable.
Anyway good luck.

My CD player is the cd changer that comes stock with premium sound. The antenna still goes up and down and I didn't see any obvious damage to the antenna.
I removed my amp and headunit earlier today to jiggle the harnesses to see if there was a loose connection in those areas. I also tapped the amp and head unit as well in order to see if the shock would cause the audio to come back.
I find it really weird that whenver I take hard right turns the sound comes back for a split second. If i take slow or moderate right turns it has no effect, only hard right turns.
Thanks,
Jason

I started experiecing the same problem in my SC300 1992 (Premuim). After tapping the radio a few times with my fist, it died completely! Did you fix your problem?
