i need an amp to power 2 12 " subwoofers. i was thinking of getting a JL amp. any experience or suggestionm on size?

Yup these amps are kickass. They have the ability to optimize power real power at any impedence from 1.5-4 ohms. They have some real nice mono amps for subs like the 500/1 and the 1000/1. I am upgrading to a 300/4 and a 500/1 in the spring and believe me it will pound. It is not the cleanest power out there but defenitely a lot of bang for the buck. Nice crossover features as well.

I have had alot of amps in my days....and I absolutely love my JL's that I have now. They put out alot of power, and they have alot of features.

The mono sub amps would be the 500/1 and 1000/1...as mentioned by Lexis 11.

The 500/1 puts out 500w....it does this no matter what ohm its running at..within specs. I think its from 1.5ohms to 4 ohms it will put out that smae power.

The 1000/1 puts out 1000w...same deal as above.

I had a single 12 running off of a 500/1 and it sounded great. I now have a 1000/1 matching it up to 2 tens...its not hooked up yet, but im sure it will pound.

The 500/1 can easily run two 12's, it really depends entirely on what subs your running.

TTURBOPIMP said it all! Great amps...if you're looking to compare or looking for other options...look into PPI, Memphis and XTANT....of course, you might have already known this, but those are the best amps I've ever owned or seen, I had a PPI and Xtant, very clean power, and a friend had all Memphis and it was great!

Hey, i have 2 500.1 jl amps. I love them! I also have 2 JL 12w7's. It runs them perfectly fine

Same setup here - 2 500/1's running 1 Solobaric S12L7 each and 1 300/4 running Dynaudio Mk240's and an extra pair of Dynaudio MW170's mids in the rear doors.

i have a precision power 600w amp running 2 JL w3's. i was seriously considering a JL amp, i think the 500w is to small, so i got my eyes on the 1000/1 also. anyone have one of these beasts? whats it running? these w3's can handle it right?

I had the PCX-1500 (great amp...tons of power)...then some stupid a##es stole it at 2am! My insurance gave me $2,800.00 for the set up though! And I was going to get the JL 1000 but I got the mono 1000 Xtant.....then that got stolen....and my car vandalized to the point of being totalled (the neighboorhood in Downtown Phoenix, west of ASU campus, where I used to live isn't nice). Hence my Lexus....though I bought a pretty old one it's paid for! So now I want a new system....and with how much I read about JL on here I think I should look into that....so good thread elclassico cause I had the same questions!

*edit* I had 12.1 pioneer premiers on the PPI (3)...and the xtant hex's (X1244) on the xtant (just two though) I loved both systems... sigh

The 1000/1 is overkill for 210w3's. The 500/1 will be perfect for that box. That is actually the box I have and will be upgrading to the 500/1 as soon as my shop slows down. Actually it might eb sooner than later because I think I got my amp wet when washing it the other day
Anyways the 210 box can handle 600w continuous so the 500/1 is perfect.
I put a 1000/1 on a 13w7 in my boys acura legend and it was rediculous way too much for me but he liked it and boy was it loud!

correction: its 2 12w3s not 10s. still think its over kill?
