Default 2015 Lexus IS 250 Black/Black Price Analysis

Hey all,

I'm trying to help my girlfriend purchase her first Lexus. It was a little difficult going through the 140+ page thread regarding IS prices, so I thought I'd start a new one (hopefully this will help current searchers).

The dealership offered this:

2015 Lexus IS 250 Fully Loaded w/ Navigation

MSRP: $41,915
Offered (not including taxes, fees, etc.): $39,550

after tax and interest...

Monthly Payment: $588
X 60 months: $35,280
Down Payment: $10,000
Total with down payment: $45,280 (OTD price)

My girlfriend wants to negotiate a deal like this:

Monthly Payment: $450
X 60 months: $27,000
Down Payment: $10,000
Total with down payment: $37,000 (OTD price)

What are your thoughts on the initial offer and the price that we'd try to negotiate?

Any help is much appreciated.

is doing a lease a possibility? that will keep the payments down if that's the issue.

We hadn't considered leasing. We just wanted a good deal.

Either of those down payments would be doable, but obviously we'd rather pay $450 a month rather than $588 if we could

What do you think about the initial offer and the price we want to negotiate towards? (i.e., is either one reasonable/way off ?)

well if you go through the "how much x50 paid" thread, you'd get a good idea. or you can go to truecar dot com and see what the report says for which ever model and options you go with. I bought a 350 f sport, so I wouldn't know what a good deal for the car you guys are buying. good luck.

It is for sure way off.
From your number, you are asking more than $8000 off. It is not quite possible even for big sale on 2014 model.
I think you can get similar amount of discount if it is a 2014 RC F. The total price of 250 is not expensive enough to offer $8000 discount.

Thank you for your input! What would you say is a reasonable discount to expect relative to the initial offer?

On a 250 aim for 12-15% off MSRP (15% is tough to get but attainable).

If the MSRP is $41,915 (let's say 42k), then 12% off is $36,960.

Does that mean we should aim for $36,960 before taxes/fees, or aim for $36,960 OTD?

Thank you for your help.

12% off is before tax. If you can get $37k OTD that's a deal of a lifetime you will never get. Tax rate in CA is 9%. 20% off MSRP is not realistic.

Ok, thanks!

Let me pose the question to you this way:

What's the most realistic, best deal we could hope for? 15% off MSRP before tax?

Yes - that's about as good as it gets

Go to Truecar.com and compare how much people pay in your zip code. This will give you some idea.

Beware of truecar - they are paid commission - folks with a little negotiation and car buying skill can usually do much better than truecar numbers (especially in CA). YMMV.

Just so you know it is probably not "fully loaded." Some options and a truly "fully loaded" option configuration is only available by special order.

You should think of the price relative to invoice price, not MSRP.
