Default Professional DIY: 9500CI Install

Here's the 9500CI display installed.....a lot of people would pay $700+ for a mirror with it installed...decided to show what they do......

Mirror without it

Slowly prying with a plastic tool

Front Bezel off

Seeing where and what the display would look like

Circuit Board

Housing of the display taken off

Some speed glue to attach the display circuit board to the mirror circuit board

Cut the wires so I run the wires through the mirror

Extended the Wires and solder the connection

Final Product

Great job on the install. That's very similar to what I did in my Scion FRS on a Gentex mirror. I also bought another 9500ci for my IS350.

But I do have a question for you. Does the LCD for the 9500ci display bright enough through the mirror during bright days? On my other car it is really difficult to see because of the coating on the back of the mirror's glass. But I can see it great during night (lmao).

I know the specialty shop that installs these displays in the Gentex mirrors usually strips a section of the coating off. But not all mirrors require this so I'm hoping our mirrors don't. Thanks !

its bright during the day. I do know what you're talking about...some mirrors in the past that I have done, I had to tape off and sand blast a rectangle to so the display would show

Awesome, Thanks for getting back to me on that. I am installing mine today and tomorrow. Debating on putting the display in the mirror or seeing if I can integrate it into the dash cluster (if there is an open space).

I was able to complete the mirror modification. However, even with my tinted windows & windshield I seem to have a hard time seeing the display on bright sunny days. Bummer! I may attempt to remove the display and install it in the dash instrument cluster.

Too bad the displays are worth like $15 but Escort wants $200 for a new one (when I check in 2013). I'd just leave it in the mirror and add a second one :P.
