Default Break in Period

Hey guys, did a quick search and couldn't really find the answer i was looking for..

So I purchased my IS350 yesterday from Lexus. Vehicle had 10KM on it at purchase. During the vehicle tutorial the salesman told me not to brake heavily, or hit the gas hard, and speed for the first 1000KM. (Till engine gets broken in)

So I have been driving the vehicle in Eco-mode. (he recommended to avoid sports and sports +). The vehicle pickup, and reaction time is terrible. Guessing because it is in economy mode.

So my question is, for the break-in period how did you guys drive the vehicle? Should i keep it on economy mode, or regular or even sports mode? I usually have a heavy foot, so this has been rather difficult to far!

Thanks for any input in advance,

some people say you dont need to break it and they do it at factory before they build it. some say you do because everything is new and its in the owners manual.

I do something a little in between. i drove it slowly and easy while flooring it lightly a few times when i couldn't resist. its only for 650 miles or so. i lasted about 600 hundred. i think i did pretty good.

I couldn't follow the break in period haha. Everytime I'm on an empty road or highway, I put it right in Sport+ mode and go crazy. Your salesman most likely told you not to put in in sport+ because the accelerator is really sensitive in sport+. Also it inspires the inner racer inside you lol. How about you try cruising on an empty highway so you can gain miles faster?

I just broke 700m yesterday and it was the first time I went manual and had some fun and got on it. It says it in the manual, so I was able to be patient, as I rack up miles fairly quickly. I drove/drive in normal mode all of the time and the power was fine for me, but, I'm not a lead foot either. I had 1 or 2 hard brakings that I couldn't avoid either. Not the end of the world. I'll have to throw it into Sport mode now and play some. My recommendation is always better safe and be a little patient until you hit 700m, then go have some spirited fun and push the limits.
