A lot of our 19" customers go with (for road noise) :

Continental ExtremeContact DWS
Michelin Pilot Sport AS3

I've had DWS's - they are quiet, but they are also squirmy.

Do you want summer only or all seasons?

I just bought some Potenza RE760's. It's only been a short day, but they seem quiet and they'll outgrip an all season all day long.

I agree- are you looking for a summer tire or all-season?

Probably all season. If I could get away with a CHEAP 18" wheel with studded tires, I would go with a set of summer tires.

I don't think I can get anything cheap, since I need staggered.

Depends where you shop, but there are some pretty cheap 18's out there. DWS's are probably the best all season for actual winter conditions while maintaining some decent dry grip.

I ran 245/45/18's on a G35x and they just seemed to have way to soft of sidewalls for any aggressive driving.

The Continentals are quieter and will last longer than the Michelin. The Michelin will be the much better performer in all areas except noise and ride.

Michellin's are pretty quiet man. Even on our grooved Hwy here in Toronto... still sounds pretty quiet.

I choose the Michelin for noise, and I took a quick poll of some of the other guys here. We're unanimous in that decision. It's a tight race between the two, but the Michelin edges out the Continental.

Michelin PS2 or PSS for long term quietness. I've always found that the Continental (I've had the CS, CS2, CS3, and also DWS and DW on previous cars) to increase in noise levels more so than PS2's or PSS, which are more consistent throughout the tire life.

I agree with someone stating the DWS's are squirmy, they are...the sidewall isn't stiff enough to be a true performance tire, however they do good as an all-season performance tire.

Probably a bad question, but does sipping them create more noise?

rolling on Flintstones' rock wheels would be quieter than the stock bridgestones.
i second the RE760's nice and quiet, really grippy, and good in the wet.
