Bent F Sport Wheel
Heys guys, a couple days ago I was coming around a right corner and hit a rather large pothole. I immediately pulled over, and my worst fears came true... bent rim. Luckily the tire hasn't had issues holding air. I was curious what the best course of action is.
Is it okay to leave the rim bent?
If i do leave it, I guess i should probably have the wheel balanced.
Or should I have it repaired?
A lexus dealer gave a me a guys number to call. I was quoted $85. He said he uses hydraulic machinery to true the rim, but when he re-paints the wheel, he said he does not powder coat.
I was also quoted $225 by Wheel Wizard. They will true the wheel, balance the wheel, and powder coat it, but it takes 2 days to do. Here is wheel wizards website: http://www.wheelwizard.com/
Here is a picture so you can see the damage... What should I do?

Yikes!! That must have hit hard but amazed you didn't damage the tire.
To me, I find it hard to believe that a rim like that can truly be repaired...I'd get a new one but I am sure I am the exception here.

Yeah, it was quite a pothole. I have no idea how good of an idea it is to "repair" wheels, that's why I trying to get some feedback. Hopefully someone on here has some expert advice.

damn that looks pretty bad. I've had bends before but nothing that visible. I wouldn't bother fixing it personally...i put a higher price on peace of mind - particularly on such a new car

Hey,
When you purchased the car did you purchase the extra wheel and tire protection from the dealer. When I bought mine, i purchased this extra warranty on tire and wheel hazzard protection, that they replace or fix issues like that... For example, I got a flat tire and they replaced the tire new...nothing to pay from my pocket.. Also corresponds to wheels..

A few years back I hit a pothole and damaged my wheel. I contacted the town I live in and they agreed to pay to replace my wheel. I don't know if this has changed but it's certainly worth a shot.
