Professional DIY: Parking Sensor Install and 9500ci on 2015 IS350 F-Sport *UPDATED*
my fiancé and I recently purchases a 2015 Lexus IS350 F-Sport. She wanted front and rear parking sensor, but it wasn't a factory option. I used to be a Car Audio Installer for 13+ years before becoming a Paint Protection Film Installer.
I hated how must parking sensor stick out and didn't look factory at all....
I order the factory 212 paint from touchupdirect.com, and went on looking for front and rear sensors..
I went back to the lexus dealership found a non-f-sport and made a template of the location of the factory sensors.
I found some flush mount sensors by Rydeen...
The kit allows output to a video screen, showing distance and flashes left or right
I ordered two other kits for the front, but that will be done later....there is two areas in the grill where it looks like it was made for parking sensors...(that will be in another post)
I had to find the factory wires for the factory camera and wired in the "brain" of the parking sensor. Went and painted the sensors with the paint I orderd
layed the template of the location of the factory sensor, and drilled the holes out of the bumper and removed the rear bumper, because the sensor installs from the back of the bumper
After I was done with that, I installed the rear sensors
and here how it outputs to the factory screen......it's not like the factory but, I rather have the distance showing how far I am versus flashing colors.......
Didn't have time to finish the install of the front sensor or the ESCORT 9500ci...they'll probably done next weekend!
here's some updates
here's how it looks before
using the clearbra as a template to get the factory location of the sensor from a NON-F-Sport
Hole Drilled
Sensor Installed (don't mind the white around the sensor, bumper was XPEL prior to install)
Here's what the opposite side looks like
Front Center Sensor Location

Wow that is awesome work. I thought these came standard when I bought my car, but realized after that they didn't have them. I don't have the installation experience as you do, but I wish I could get these done too.

Excellent job. The end result is closest to the factory ones as I have the regular non F Sport IS with park sensors.
Your shop looks spacious. I like the rolls and the Xpel sign in the background.

Nice job.
I am considering doing this using Cobra parkmaster r0394 sensors. Could you let me know how you interface the brain of the sensor to the nav? Please also keep us updated on the front install as well.
Thanks

I was looking at the ro394 sensors....they look closer to factory size than the Rydeen.....but the Rydeen has a video out/video in......and my girl wanted something that would show on the screen.... I was looking at the Alpine VPX-B104r, because it would flash colors on the screen but there wasn't a flush mount option. I was looking at making brackets for it, but didn't want to mold and fab up brackets....so I went with Rydeens option......
Future mod will be a 360 camera for Front sides and rears....but that'll be down the line....
