Rioja red hard to find in CA?

When I was shopping in October 2014, they were really hard to find and I had to look out of state...so I ended up special ordering and added VGRS and PCS along with the ML, NAV, BSM. Took 4 months, but worth the wait.
It definitely seems that they are more abundant now.. When I took delivery in February, there were 2 in the SF Bay Area (but w/o those special options)...there were none for months, and now they are more abundant.
In regards to pricing, dealers were willing to give me at least $2K below invoice (so $44k) for any other color combo they had on the lot. This was without even trying to haggle. For UW/RR, they would not budge...I had dealers saying "MSRP" or "$1K" over invoice (which would mean paying $3K more for the color I wanted!).
In the end, I special ordered and found a dealer that was willing to sell to me at invoice price. I'm sure you could get a better deal now considering they aren't as hard to find.
Good Luck!

Curious..I know this probably depends on the bank but when you applied for your auto loan and the approved it, how long (typically) will they hold that loan for you until you need to re apply? I ask this because i'd like to get approved while searching but I know it could take months to find what I want or it could take just a few days and I wouldn't want a great deal to fall by the waist side.
Hopefully you can get it all worked out so that you have the money ready to go. If your goal is to find a used is350 with low miles, you're much better off negotiating with a private seller.

Norcal got a lot of that combo. It's best selling so they stock a lot of it.
Me and friend both was able to get one pretty easily.
Usually the showcase is uw/rr. U can buy that one!
