It takes YEARS and millions of dollars in R&D and production to implement new technology. I have a buddy who works at Toyota corporate and they are already working on the 2019 Sienna. Also, Toyota/Lexus veer on the safe side (aka waiting for tech to prove itself/become standard).

From an article in that recently appeared in the New York Times..........
John Hanson, the national manager of Toyota’s advanced technology communications, said while the company talked frequently with both Google and Apple, it currently had no plans to adopt Android Auto or CarPlay in the United States.
“We may all eventually wind up there, but right now we prefer to use our in-house proprietary platforms for those kinds of functions,” Mr. Hanson said.
This statement is confirmed to be for Lexus as well.

I will buy a new car with car play
I love my LX 570 and am in the market for a new one, but am leaning towards the new 2016 escalade since Car Play will be adopted in that vehicle. Lexus needs to adopt the technology that consumers demand.
