Hey Guys,

Just joined this site and I've recently ordered a 2015 IS 350 F Sport Series 3 (Ultra White / Rioja Red).

I wanted to ask if anyone has any comments about some of the dealer extras they try to sell you. The only one that really peaked my interest was something called Sharkskin. I guess it's some type of protective layer put on the exterior/interior of the car to protect it from stains, dirt UV rays, etc..

Anyone think it's worth doing?

decline all dealer extras you can always find what you want much cheaper elsewhere

Find a reputable shop that is authorized to install Xpel or 3M clear bra films and go with that option. It is a lot better than what the dealer is offering you and it will probably be cheaper.

Sharkskin is a nano coating. It is similar to CQuartz, GeoTechniq, Opti-coat, etc. It is only temporary protection and will need to be re-applied every 2-3 years. More likely than not, you can get a better quality application at a professional detailer or apply it yourself for much less than the dealer.

The only add on that I purchased was the wheel protection again rash and bent rims for 5 years I believe. I've already used it!
