Default just became a fan of 3IS's handling

this is the first time i get to drive a 3IS loaner for an extended period of time (dealer has to replace oil pan of my '09 IS350). they gave me a base IS250, and compare to my IS350 which has BC coilovers and rear f sport sway bar, the base 3IS feels more planted on the road than the 2IS. i find it more confident to take on a corner in the base 3IS than my modified IS350.

Would feel even better if you had Sport+ on with the F-Sport IS350.

Extra stiff suspension and dat throttle response!

Lexus did a great job with the tuning of the 3IS with both the base and F-Sport versions. I noticed that you're not using the F-Sport front sway bar to go along with your rear sway bar. You should highly consider getting the F-Sport front sway bar as well to get the confidence-inspiring planted feel that you are looking for. One of the forum members, FSportIS, did a nice review of when he had just the F-Sport rear sway bar and his thoughts of the handling improvements that he noticed when finally getting the front F-Sport sway bar.

Ya the first thing you notice is the handling in the 3IS and the car keeps craving for more speed at cornering, feel it everyday....Lexus did a great job.

It handles very well for most of us i.e. on public roads and when you take to twisties. I heard however than on the track 3IS, even in F Sport trim, pushes a lot (understeers) and it makes it cumbersome on the track. Primarily due to a heavy 3.5L engine hanging on the front axle. Also one big item that 3IS is missing is limited slip diff (LSD). True enthusiasts believe that a car without LSD is not a sports car.

I personally very rarely take the car to its limits. Within its limits it handles awesome.

ive tracked my 3IS twice, on stock tires and then on PSS. Definately get rid of the stock tires and get real ones. Understeer was reduced a lot

^^^^ I agree. If I were to make this car a more regular track toy I would to two things. I'd get a square 255 setup and i'd get a transmission oil cooler.

I had the same experience coming from a 2is to 3is. The loaner i was given while my 2is was in service was a 2014 is250 and the suspension was much firmer than my 12k/10k Megan LP Coilovers. Two months later i traded in my 2is for the 2014 is350 fsport and have been more than happy with the Sport+ setting.

+1. Never liked how the 2is drove. That was the main reason why I didn't even consider it at the time

it handles much better yet rides smoother. My 2IS feels so jittery and harsh compared to it but it handles worse

8 speed tranny found on 3IS F sport RWD is said to be the same tranny as in RCF. Assuming the tranny on RCF doesn't overheat so the main reason 3IS's tranny being overheated on the track is mainly because of the absence of a transmission oil cooler (that of course assumes that RCF does have tranny oil cooler). Is that correct?

The 3IS handling is fantastic. I was never super impressed with the 2IS handling (though I loved the car anyway), but I was immediately sold after driving the 3IS.

Just to be clear, the 8 speed is offered on all IS350 RWD models, not just the F Sport.

Are you saying the tranny oil cooler in RCF is different than that in 3IS 350 RWD (yes i got it 8 speed on both 350s, not just F Sport).
