I have a decision to make. White/Red 2015 IS 350 F sport RWD for $46,000 or Obsidian 2012 IS F with 28,000 miles for roughly $43,000?

It's up to your own preferences. If you like more the 2nd gen, then go for it. In my case, it's an easy decision = 2015 IS350, no questions asked Good luck either way!

If i were to spend 43k to purchase a car I would honestly get a M235i over ISF or IS350

I don't like black as an exterior color - too hard to maintain. Looks great clean but that doesn't last long. I don't have the motivation to maintain black - big props to all the guys on here who keep theirs looking awesome.

Is the 150 extra horsepower worth a downgrade in looks (inside and out), worse ride, less tech, etc? No, IMO.

I'd go with the IS350.

+1 Left my black 2IS. Having owned 4 black cars, I could say hell no to black cars They were @$%^* to maintain! Goodbye black

If you don't live in a busy city, I would take the IS-F for some fun driving . If you do live in the city with lots of daily driving, the IS 350.

I went through the same thing. I ultimately decided on the new IS over the used ISF. What swayed me most was:

1. The new IS350 is a really nice car. I skipped the f sport package in favor of the luxury/tech package. It has all the options you wish the fsport had and it's just as fast/sporty.

2. I couldn't justify spending $50k on a car that already had 20k miles despite reliable reputation of Lexus.

3. If speed was really my objective than there was much faster to be had than the ISF

4. AWD - New England winters for me and the AWD is piece of mind the dozen or so times I need it. Plus, it hooks up perfect every time during the occasional drag race.

How is the black paint holding up on that 2012? Covered in swirls and scratches or did the person know how to take care of it properly? How important is the factory warranty to you? Personally, I think the IS-Fs are great for what they are and my husband almost picked one up. But I love the looks of the 3IS much more than the 2IS, so I would choose the 2015 IS350.

I think I am going to have to go the way of the IS 350 as well. Just have to figure out the color combination and package. I can't stand the 6 speed transmission.

As was said above. Paint quality and maintenance records would be the big issues with the IS-F. Can you track down all the work that has been done to this car? Has everything been done on time? Also, assume being that the IS-F is a performance car, that someone beat on it some. So you have to concern yourself with how the previous owner treated it. As for paint, people typically don't take care of paint. Nothing ruins a car more than swirls and poor treatment of paint. To get correction on paint can cost several thousand dollars to get it right.

Something to consider.

If I had to pick, I'd get the IS350 new and make it your own.

Also, if you're getting RWD, shouldn't it be an 8 speed? Only AWD got 6. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

you are right. I was not being clear. I would definitely get the RWD with the 8 speed transmission since there is not a need for AWD in the Nation's capitol.

hmm, always keep in mind that AWD is great for driving performance because it allows the best balance between under/over steer. Also, acceleration is typically better in AWD (GT-R anyone?).

My buddy lived in DC for a couple years with his GTO, and ran drag radials. Said there were still a couple snows where he nearly totalled the car.

AWD is always an option.
