Just based on the spread is250 vs is350 seems like your dealer is trying to maintain margin on the 350s. I would have gone to another dealership for a better discount on the 350. But you got a great deal and I hope you enjoy your new car.

Believe me, I tried. As 4TehNguyen said, 350s are more rare than 250s, so dealers are playing tough and not discounting much. The best quote I got for a 350 was $2,500 off MSRP, which didn't do it for me. On my 250, I got almost $6,000 off MSRP. That's what I'm talking bout!
That 8-speed doing some MPG saving work. I'm happy I could even get to 30MPG cruising to LA.
250 had better mpg on the 2IS, but it was a dog. The 3IS 250 is regeared and it drives pretty decent in sports mode. Its less geared towards efficiency and more for performance hence only a 2 mpg difference this time.

I only got $2500 off MSRP for my 350 (as the OP mentioned), however I just couldn't deal with the how underpowered the 250 feels. I also don't think the MPG is more than marginally better on the 250. Either way, very pretty car and hope you enjoy it.

Thanks tc2IS350! I can't agree with you on the underpowered comment. Maybe because I came from a 2IS (250 AWD) to a 3IS (250 AWD). Previous version felt heavier and slower. My new 250 is responsive and feels fair! I guess it all depends on how one defines power and responsiveness

So you feel like your 2IS was less responsive/slower than your new 3IS? That's odd. I went from a 2IS 350 to a 3IS 350 and I feel like it's the exact opposite. I'll have to test drive the 3IS 250.
The OP was right. I drove both and it not a lot faster but it response quicker and the shift is quicker. The 350 2nd gen is quicker than the 3rd 350 but I like the 3rd gen 8speeds shift way faster then the 2nd gen in manual mode.

You made a good point! You are comparing 2nd gen 350 to 3rd gen 350. In that case, the 2nd gen 350 is faster than 3rd gen 350. However, in my case 2nd 250 (which I owned) was slower than 3rd gen 250. My new IS250 is a lot quicker and better responsive!

Well that's annoying. So the 350 buyers got shafted. I knew I should have test driven the 250. Ugh.

My friend test drove both before going with the 350, for city driving it's got enough torque but once you hit the highway, you have almost no torque or power to pass.

Can't agree with you on this one! I have plenty of power to pass on the hwy Maybe it's just the driver
