Default IS250 F-Sport vs Is350 F-Sport / Why I chose IS250

Hey guys,

I've finally negotiated a deal and I am closing it tomorrow! After long research and test-drives, I settled with the IS250 F-Sport AWD. Why not going for the IS350? Simple, IS250 gives me more MPG (which I need for my long commutes) and I was able to get a better discount off MSRP (11% to be exact) than the IS350 ($2,000 off MSRP). Maybe the IS350 wasn't intended for me right now as my father said (laughing cause he knows I have a heavy foot). Overall, I am happy with my choice and that's all it matters

Awesome and congrats!

If you spend lots of time on the road, you'll definitely be happy with the gas savings.

Reading from the other fuel consumption threads, the difference is marginal at best.

I chose the 350 cause I felt a big difference with power delivery and managed to get roughly 15% off. The 250 endded up being too expensive for a car that only had 150 odd KWs.

But that's because I live in AU, everything costs ridiculously more here!!

Eg. IS350 $75K with Pack 1 (Everything excluding active cruise control, lane departure and auto high beam. They wanted $73K for the IS250 with pack 2 (e.g. exact spec as Sports Luxury except rear blind). So it was either features or a better engine - I chose engine =p

However we all have different needs, the IS has brought out the speeding demon inside of me so you might have done yourself a favour getting the 250, ha!

I guess you did pretty good scoring a 15% off. Didn't work for me here in the Northeast, US. Your closing statement is funny "the IS has brought out the speeding demon inside of me so you might have done yourself a favour getting the 250, ha!"

Congrats on your IS. If you're not power-hungry, the 250 is the sensible choice.

Good choice, and congrats!
I also chose the 250 over the 350 even though I received a pretty good offer on it. ($ wasn't the problem)

Coming from an RX, it's definitely not as powerful, but it's more than sufficient for everyday driving.

A lot of friends told me to pay the extra ~$4k for the 350, but I'd rather use those for some touch-ups on the 250, since power isn't the issue for me.

Clear bra, tints, LED mods, intake, and possibly an exhaust just adds up to be around that price range

I'm happy.

Enjoy your IS250 Lexi!

the IS is the perfect daily IMO, it has good power delivery, and its fun to drive. I do wish it had a bit more power, but for what it is, the car is wonderful, comfortable, and good looking. I almost dont miss my other car when i drive the lexus during the week, something i couldnt say when driving the nissan maxima and the mercedes c350 that preceded the IS.

I originally wanted the 350 Fsport rear wheel drive but none to be had, turns out all the dealers up here bring in all AWD and anything else is special order - didn't feel like waiting. Do to me the 250 was the best compromise.

Just based on the spread is250 vs is350 seems like your dealer is trying to maintain margin on the 350s. I would have gone to another dealership for a better discount on the 350. But you got a great deal and I hope you enjoy your new car.

350s are more rare than 250 thats why it cant be discounted as much. MPG is meh like a 2 mpg difference

That 8-speed doing some MPG saving work. I'm happy I could even get to 30MPG cruising to LA.
