Default O2 Sensor

My check engine light just came on around 7000miles on my 2014 IS350. Dealer says that I need a new O2 sensor. Just wanted to see if this is common and if anyone else has had their O2 sensor replaced within the 1st year?

Thanks in Advance

Have you modded the car in anyway?

If not, its very odd for a O2 sensor to go bad after 7,000 miles. Those are a 100k+ part.

That should be covered by warranty. Do not pay a dime for that. If your dealership tries to make you, they are crooks, and you need to find another dealer. O2 sensors are not wear parts.

Bad fuel wouldn't foul out an O2 sensor.

May give a temporary code, but wouldn't make the sensor fail

Thanks Guys, the car is completely Stock, so thats what I was thinking. The dealer has been great about the situation and is replacing the O2 sensor for free this weekend. Just wanted to know if this is just a bad part from the factory or something others are seeing.

Sure, its very possible it was a faulty part. No matter how great a line of parts are, you will always have a faulty one.

Just had a failed O2 sensor replaced on my 350 F-Sport at less than 7000 miles, so you're not alone.

We just found 2 faulty O2 sensors! Glad to hear the dealers are taking care of it like they should.
