I'm not understanding the hate in this thread. You're mad he hit the top speed? How does this affect you? Yeah it's reckless but we're in no position to judge him.
As far as the original question, from what I've read in these forums, it's very difficult to get into the Toyota ECU.

What are you talking about?
You do realize there are speed limiters, right?
...snip...
You're getting passed because you have economy gearing, 3.5 liters, and are about as aerodynamic as a block. As you go higher in mph, the air drag on the car will continue to increase, and eventually you reach the point where the car can no longer PUSH its way to faster.

I guess you know what I'm talking about... at 150 in a is350, it ain't the speed limiter. It's gearing, engine, aero... oh wait, you agreed with me on that.
Soooo... we should not tell the guy to straighten up. You should. That about right?

You do realize there are speed limiters, right? These are set at anywhere between 118 and 199mph depending on the car. When you hit this trigger point, many will begin retarding timing, while others will begin cutting fuel and causing the car to backfire until the speed gets back under 100 in which fuel is then given to the motor again.
I've owned several performance cars, and I will tell you I've hit the speed limiter on each of them. On my camaro, I've even had it tuned out.
Its a damn shame that you people criticize someone who actually wants to get some performance out of the car while the rest of your worry about your wide body kits and "all show but no go" parts.
OP - You should be able to find what your rev limiter is on your manual. Your tires will also be rated for your top speed. If you have anything in the ZR and YR tire spec, the car should be rated for a speed limiter of 155mph. You're getting passed because you have economy gearing, 3.5 liters, and are about as aerodynamic as a block. As you go higher in mph, the air drag on the car will continue to increase, and eventually you reach the point where the car can no longer PUSH its way to faster.
On a final note, while I just told everyone to leave you alone, I do recommend you keep the "racing" to the strip. Over 100mph in many states is immediate trip to jail (I'm sure similar laws exist where you're from?). And if you want to have more fun, take it to a local autocross track on the weekend. Its a good opportunity to beat on the car, see its potential, and keep in a safe environment. After my wife's car is broken in, i plan to take her out and let her push the car. When my ZL1 arrives, and I break it in, I plan to go with her.

On some Infiniti forums, there is a clear rule about not posting conversations centering on street racing or anything illegal associated with the car. I think it would be wise to have a similar rule here. This is not the 1st thread I've seen where someone has highlighted their street, not track, prowess.
My only experience with this is being witness to a 2 year old on a tricycle being run over in the midst of a street race between a Super Sport and a Camaro. This was nearly 40 years ago. it does leave a shockingly bad taste in your mouth for these antics. The sad part was that I knew one of the racers and today, decades later, he is haunted by the image of the tricycle careening 2 feet onto the road and him hitting the child with his right front tire.
OP, maybe keep these conversations off the web, these things have a way of finding us when we post them.

To the OP you can get the RR tune and have them disable the Speed Limiter. It is one of the options when purchasing the tune from there site. I personally have hit the limiter on long trips (LA to Vegas) with the RR tune and can say the car can easily get up to 140-150mph if you were to disable it,
Not recommending to do it on public roads but just know you have options.

Many online forums have strict rules regarding street racing or illegal activities.
Street racing, speeding, dangerous driving should never be promoted online.
Warning or banned with zero tolerance.
Take it to the track as it's much more fun on the track.
I am saying it as a SCCA/FIA race license holder.
