Oh that's great, really get to appreciate what you have. I wish this car had used better tires for track day, I noticed some understeer.

Had my wife watch this video and she disagrees; she's a BMW club racer and Porsche / BMW / Nasa high performance driving instructor. VIR is our home track and according to my local expert this guy made a number of mistakes in his driving (both in lines he was taking and driving technique) that would have likely yielded a significantly better lap time for the 3IS.

She said the guy is a decent driver, but lots of room for improvement.

I noticed that too! Came in too hot or the turn was way to wide.
But I noticed its the same driver in all the vids that track and man that must tiring. You see him stretching he hands, cracking his fingers.

Not pretty to watch - Why dont they use a Pro like Motortrend for track testing?

the stock tires are trash and hold the car back. Put on some PSS and it becomes a whole different animal.

Wife says better tires like PSS would be typically be 3 - 5 seconds difference on medium HP cars like the 3IS (more on higher HP cars). However I totally agree with the approach that C&D takes for this using OEM tires and brakes.

This is a 'run what you brung' test and if a car comes from the factory with so-so performance tires, its fair that is how it should be tested.

Did they have the traction control disabled? Couldn't tell from the dash.

The car is good at doing a few hot laps.
I was able to catch up with some Ferrari 458s on a set of Conti DWS.
But if you want it to last the whole event you need good ventilation for the brake .
My EBC yellow stuff over heated at the 2nd section.
And also transmission cooler is highly recommended.
