Thanks for the sunroof suggestion, but I always keep the cover closed when the roof is not open.
Have another car with 50% All Around, but with Side Rear and Rear shades, which I'm very happy with, but it's a larger car and I'm thinking I'd like more privacy in the smaller IS.
If the transition from 20 to 35 isn't that noticeable, hope from 35 to 50 isn't either...
Thanks guys.

That is correct. 50% is lighter. I live in CA so I'm used to the front windows being lighter than the rear due to DMV laws. So not sure why in the example you provided above the owner would order the tint such that the rear (I.e., 50%) is light and the front is (I.e., 35%) dark?

Do not do the transition if you care about how it will look.. I have 20% 3m color stable all around on both of my cars.it is illegal in Jersey but i have my buddy who is an eye doctor write me for a medical exemption. I am simply following the prescribed treatment for my retinal tear

I'll post a good side shot soon and you'll see that I obviously don't care how my car looks because I did 35/20.

Finally getting tints tomorrow(!!), but still debating between:
50% Sides and 35% Rear
50% Front Sides and 35% Rear Side and Rear (probably best, but uneasy as not even)
OR
35% All Around
Would do 43% All Around, but shop wants $50 more for same ($175 vs. $225).
AND, just when I thought I wanted to do 35% All Around, saw a car today with 35% Front Sides and 20% Rear Sides and Rear and felt the 35% windows were too dark. Argh!
ALSO, anyone have any idea what I should pay for the installation of rear lamp tint film?
Have a Grey on Red F Sport. Last minute input welcome.
Thanks.

Which tint film are you going with? Also what is rear lamp tint film?
For 3M products there is good simulator to see how dark it looks on your car.

The pursuit of F
I'm very happy with 35 all around, 20 rear. Black interior. Keep in mind with the red interior, it will look slightly less dark but one thing you may want to consider is how much of the red interior you want to show through. Personally, on Nebula gray as some posters have shown us, looks stunning with the medium to darker tints as it brings out more of the "smokiness" of the paint and graphite wheels and gives an overall more cohesive "stealthy-menacing" look. My vote is on 35 all around and/or some 20 in there if allowed.

I had the 35/20 combo on my previous IS. 35% on all side windows, 20% on rear window. Honestly, there isn't a huge difference between the transition, unless you inspect it closely from different angles. My interior was black.
If you don't have a sunshield, I'd definitely recommend going darker on the rear tint. Like I said, my 2IS had 20% on the rear window, but I still had my sunshield up almost all the time (except when I drove at night).

Why in the world do people mix up tint? I get some areas are more about the laws, but we all remove our front tags so its just about the same. Personally, I have 20% all around on my obsidian 350 fsport. What people fail to realize is the film makes all the difference. I went with llumar ceramic since its a nice combo of mirror and smoke. Not total " limo " tint. As well I tinted my sunroof. With black on black, it's not too dark.
