The car feels noticeably quicker after 5k mark. I'm at 10k and i timed 5.8 sec to 100 kph. Feels great!

Sorry to ruffle any feathers but I have no reason to lie, I've been drag/street/and canyon racing cars since I could drive and I'm 32 now. I'll soon be adding road racing to my resume! Woot!

My car is currently stock piling and awaiting parts to be a track & street build, but currently only has a K&N filter.

I will admit, this car is a bit of a freak of nature. It's my 2nd 3IS, the first one I purchased the moment they hit the U.S. and traded it in with 10,000 miles. The one I have now has 11,800 miles and it is much quicker than the last. (Must have been assembled on a good day! Haha)

None of these races we're from a dig, the 435 surely would have beat me and definitely the 650 with the torque of that V8

These were all from 75-80mph rolls in manual mode keeping the revs around 5,000rpm before takeoff to hit the sweet spot of power. If any of you just try to stomp the gas in automatic mode, you're going to lose. Period.

Both races were won by just by a nose, but both drivers were hella surprised. Haha. For some reason, this car is very fast on freeway pulls. (Shrugging shoulders.)

The G37S has a better aftermarket that I can't keep up with my 3IS. He even gave me a head start and played around me like he was in a bike and I was just running bare feet. Manual mode with TC fully off and everything.

I thought it was already common knowledge that the only way to beat the G37S is from a dig. After 80MPH it just catches up.

Not buying the bit about the 6 series- sorry. That driver must not know what they're doing or they weren't aware that it was a race. Same would go for most BMWs such as 3/435, 545/550. We would be close to a 335 but it still wins in a straight away.

I did enter this thread to post up to mention that I'm around 13000KM and definitely feel that the car is quite a bit peppier than before. Been loving the sport/+ mode and can really feel the suspension difference as well as the car holding gears quite a bit longer- ready to launch when I wasn't even expecting it to be. Nothing but big smiles from me

I got 3500 miles on mine. Some days it feels stronger than others idk maybe it's all in my head! Maybe it's time for an intake and exhaust

Still feels good, I reckon that 0-60 is now between 5.1-5.2 per my phone app (not 100% accurate) using M mode for higher shift points, TRAC OFF button pushed once (not full off), and letting the transmission up shift on its own.

The 8 speed shift points in full auto mode are really holding the car back. Why does it up shift on its own at 6100-6200 rpm in auto? To get full benefits, you have to slap the shifter into M and it will up shift at red line on all shifts accept the 1-2 up shift (except when you have all traction/stability devices off, then on some cars such as mine can bounce off the rev limiter for however long we want). In other words, if you want to pass someone the easy way and reach peak HP, you floor the car past the kick down point, let the car downshift, and then slap the transmission into M so that it'll upshift at redline.

Do 6 speed auto owners get consistent red line up shifts regardless of modes? If so, that would explain why the IS350 AWD despite being heavier places similar or better times in magazine publications.

Another interesting note, I've always found when the transmission is in S or S+ that its always in a gear too high for my tastes, but I think I may have an unofficial explanation: I read somewhere that the 8 speed is capable of skipping up to 4 gears during downshifts, if your at like say 40mph in sport mode and it's in 6th, it will drop to 2nd gear instantly without having to go through a 2 gear step change. In otherwords, if the transmission logic would have allow 7th gear at that speed in sport, it would have to downshift to 3rd first, then down shift to 2nd, which adds time as its an extra step and slows acceleration.

Says you. To me it feels like the torque is way down form peak by the time it upshifts anyway. With 8 ratios, the RPM's don't fall that much, either.

Interesting. Is it proven that up shifting before redline produces the best times?

Shifting at the power peak will provide the best times. I think the IS blips the throttle before shifting to maintain revs. Looking at a dyno chart, the IS350 power peak appears to be at 6200 rpm; red line is 6600 rpm.

All my previous cars felt tight or restrained new but rev'ed more freely and felt faster after breakin which occurred thousands of miles after the manufacturer recommended mileage. My BMW E46 took the longest - I noticed changes up to 20,000 miles.

I consider the acceleration of the IS350 to be excellent and really like the pull of a normally aspirated engine. The car feels much faster than the published numbers especially above 4,000 rpm.

Its normally best to shift a couple hundred RPM above peak to take advantage of gearing in the current gear versus the next and where it lands you in the RPM band

I'll make a TQ-to-gear analysis /spreadsheet to see where the optimal shift points should be, let me search for a dyno graph.
