The additional power allows the car to accelerate faster which allows the driver to select a "tighter" entry point while still being able to enter the roadway safely. We've all been annoyed by drivers who pull out in front of us as they are entering a roadway forcing us to apply our brakes until their car gets up to speed. A more powerful car can get up to speed more quickly. That's all I was trying to say.
Oh gotcha.

Yup totally agree, but the thing is you can't find a base 350 in California. I'd rather have a base 350 than a loaded 250

You can special-order, like I did. I wanted the bigger motor and the 8-speed/RWD in the "base" car, and they stock nothing but AWD around here. I optioned only the blind-spot detection/auto-dimming mirrors, the rear-view camera, and the "premium" package (heated/ventilated seats and LED headlights) and kept the price around $40k.

I would have, but i didn't want to wait 2-3 months to get it. like i said, the 350 definitely would be nice, but the 250 does its job, despite all the naysayers on here. I don't track the car or anything. Just normal city / bumper to bumper LA traffic anyways.

dizlex,

Have you been through a winter with your car yet? At the very least you are going to need snow tires. Do you have something else to drive when it snows? I'm in MD and we don't get anywhere near the kind of winters you get in MN. My IS 350 is my daily driver so I opted for the AWD and all the season tires. I've had RWD sedans and it's no fun here in the snow. It would have been much less fun in MN.

Preach! I live in DE and owned a RWD 2006 IS350 previously. When the snow fell this past winter, I had to put two 50 lb. free weights in my trunk in order to make it through. I had all-season tires on the car too. AWD was a must when I got my 2014 IS350.

No keep the 350.. A year after owning a vehicle your going to kick yourself in the butt when it comes to your trade value. Vehicles are depreciating liabilities. Stay put in your ride. After it is said and done the 250 will end up costing you more than the 350. This is coming from someone that works in the automotive business.

I've been driving a RWD BMW for years, with no problems. The key is swapping wheels/tires, so you have real Winter tires, not all-seasons.

Not all all-seasons, are the same, BTW. The ones that come on the IS lean toward the sporty side, which means they'll be marginal in snow.

I agree with all especially having a second set of wheels for your winter setup. I don't do that here in MD because our winters usually aren't that bad but when I used to live in the New York area that's exactly what I did. How do you deal with the TPMS in the winter? Do you purchase a second set of sensors for your winter wheels or just say "screw it" and drive with the warning light on? That's one thing I never had to worry about in the 90's when I lived in the New York area because TPMS didn't exist back then.

Seems like most people here suggests the OP to keep the IS350 just like I do.

As for "tea", I suggest you start trading the IS250 in now before the value of the car drops like a roller coaster when the IS200t replaces it.

By that same logic, the IS350 value would fall off an even steeper cliff since most people wouldn't opt for the gas guzzling syndrome of 300hp+ in a daily driver if they can get 240-ish and much better gas mileage. Better trade yours in fast on that dopey looking Benz with the mid-90's Dodge Dart taillights you've been drooling over. Might fit in better on their forums.

lol you forgot 1 HUGE DIFFERENCE between the IS350 and the upcoming IS200T.

New adequate turbo Inline 4 Vs an "Adequate V6"

And no it's not the "same logic" because the IS350 is not going to be affected by the new inline 4 turbo engine thanks to Lexus being a successful business corporation

RC-F = 4.4 seconds / IS350 and GS350 = 5.6 seconds / IS250 = 7.7 seconds / IS200T will definitely hit the 6's range I hope you can see the pattern now

I know you don't think 7 seconds is a problem for your 2nd gen IS250, but it is for the "Lexus performance lineup"

Lol you didn't have to mention and criticize the "Mercedes Benz" totally unrelated to the topic.

The IS250 comes in at 7.2 seconds for 0-60 in most published tests, I don't know why Lexus says 7.7 unless they are trying not to disappoint AWD buyers. Sorry you didn't catch the fact that I never said I had a 250 the first three or four times I specifically told you. Once you get to a certain level of maturity, hopefully you'll learn the difference between fact and opinion and all of this stuff will be far less confusing to you. At least I hope you get there -- otherwise a very hard life ahead I'm sure.

I'll ask you both to add each other to your ignore lists.

Not if they don't want a 4-banger in their fancy new car. I know that I don't.
