Car is at dealer for its 10k mile service. One complaint is that I hear a noise when braking from time to time. Dealer just contacted me stating my front brake pads are down to 3 mm and wants $500 to replace same. Car is only one year old. How is it possible I need brakes this soon? Is this a known issue? Has Lexus been covering same under warranty? Anything in particular I should tell / request of the dealer at this time? Thanks.

im at 800 miles and there are signs of warpage when I brake lightly at speeds below 30mph...I was surprised too. bringing it to dealer this weekend.

the rotors on my car went out at 15k miles as well, i guess the previous owner didnt really take care of the car. dealership quoted me @900 for pads/rotors!

i just replaced the rotors/pads myself with stoptech for half the price, and with a much happier wallet lol

Way to go - some of these dealers take folks to the cleaners to do service on their vehicles. It's ridiculous - glad to see you were able to handle it yourself. The brakes on these cars are surprisingly easy.
