Default KN Filter vs Stock Filter

Anyone put the KN High Performance air filter in yet? I know it wont do much, but do you think it will add more of a growl? Just curious if anyone has messed around with it. Been debating buying it because its pretty cheap. According to their data and testing, the filter increases efficiency by 1%

Total waste of money if you ask me. I'm running that filter with the joe z pipe. I wish I just kept it stock on the intake side and went with a louder exhaust, way more bang for your buck.

Right now I have the Joe Z pipe installed and its pretty quiet. Was just wondering if anyone noticed a difference in sound when throwing the KN filter in. Everyone has come to conclusion that the stock intake and filter is pretty damn good. Nothing seems to beat it in regards to both sound and performance. You can add intakes like Greddy or Takeda and get more sound but you lose HP. Or you can add Joe Z and lose sound and gain a little HP. There is really no win-win setup that gives you a tad more HP and growl.

The K&N filter makes no difference in sound with the Joe Z intake. I've tested the filter with the stock intake as well, that actually gained more sound than the Jz pipe. What I did then was I cut a hole in the lower box just like the fsport for 2IS is, and that definitely added a LOT of sound! I was actually quite impressed with the growl, it's similar to greddy/takeda, but without the added worry of CEL or being obnoxiously loud. And it doesn't have the raspiness of the short ram intakes. I recommend this if you just want to gain some sound but not lose hp. At higher speeds there isn't any problem with hot air coming in.

Don't get it, I had service and although this wasn't the root cause it did have some on it. I was told that the cars mass air flow sensor had oil on it. So word of caution don't bother with it.

You need to dry it for at least one day as soon as you get it by leaving the filter exposed to air in its box ( without the plastic cover) . What happened to you is very common specially for people forgetting to dry it .

This whole drying the filter thing is a big hassle. Just stay with the stock filter or get the dry F Sport filter.

I have the filter on my cars , and my brother car . I always dry the filter if its new or been cleaned , since too much oil is present at these situations.

I wonder when the new dry F Sport filter will be available? Just the filter, not the entire intake package. I wonder who makes it?

With a little work/mod, supposedly the 2IS F Sport filter will fit into the 3IS box. The eBay link below is selling them for $50 shipped, $5 off if you use the eBay App to purchase. I just ordered one at $45 shipped. Wish me luck

You can fit it without work, it's just really thick and the clamps are tough to close.
