I don't believe that would work wit the Aux cord, but I'm not 100% sure.

getting the car to play videos via the iphone without an aftermarket product is possible, although annoyingly time consuming and the system is slow as it is.

you can't play videos by just plugging in a smart phone to the auxiliary or usb ports, respectively. it's all a bit more complex. you also can't play videos from a flash drive.

playing dvds is the easiest way to go, really.

So you just put the DVD in and watch right away?

it'll only begin to play if the car is in park and the parking brake is fully engaged.

How can I play videos from a smart phone/iPad?

Does the DVD go into the same slot where you would insert an audio CD?

In all of my life I've never been in a car that had more than 1 disc slot.

Until this thing came out.

Has anyone tried it out. I can see where it would be useful, but I can also see the total downside of it as well. I've driven to Houston (3.5 hr) and Austin (1.5 hr) a few times with friends or relatives, and I wouldn't have minded putting on "Wonder Showzen" or something to get some kicks and make the trip fly by.

yeah, that will override the system. i'm still waiting for vais tech to come out with full iphone integration hardware but they are taking their sweet time.

Before the HDD navigation systems, you had your normal DVD player slot in the radio and then another where the navigation disc is used. In the 3GS, that unit is in the glove box. Don't know why anyone would try to put a music or DVD disc in there though.
