I put $2500 down (positive equity of a negotiated trade in) and pay $482.91 for 27 month /10k miles on my IS350 Fsport. Don't recall the sale price at the moment.

Anyone here from the Northeast? I'm in CT and I'm wondering what deals some of you are getting in the tri-state area. Thanks for sharing.

Question from someone who has never leased -- I never see anyone discuss the per mile overage charge when summarizing a lease deal. Is this because it's one flat per mile rate that doesn't vary between contracts so everyone already knows the cost? Or is it just that most folks are confident enough they will stay under mile allowance that they don't worry about it?

It just seems like an important term of the contract to me. Not knowing exactly how many miles per year I might need to put on a car is one of the reasons I won't lease.

Usually there is an per mile charge after you have passed you allowed miles per you lease. Its usually .20 to .30 cent a mile and usually if you lease another car from the dealer they will cut in half the overage amount of miles you went over....... or even just waive it.

I agree. CA is getting some "out-of-this-world" deals Hopefully someone is brave enough to share some deals here in the east coast.

Do they really ever waive it though, if it's significant? If they do, I bet they will tack on the cost to the next lease payment. The cost can really add up. At .30 per mile, if I changed jobs for example and had to put 5k more miles per year than I thought I would, that effectively adds another $125 a month to the lease payment (.3 times 5000 divided by 12 months). On a $450/month lease, that's adding up to 30% of their revenue. There is no way a dealership can afford to take a loss of 30% just to reward someone for return business, they're going to roll it into your next lease payment so it's less recognizable for what it is, IMO.

Congrats.
drbazing, do you mind sharing which dealership in CA you got the lease from? Who did you work with? I have been contacting several SoCal dealerships and feel like they don't seem too enthused. Perhaps they have a lot of demand lately... Thanks for the info.

I pretty much got the deal from Santa Monica, but San Diego matched it so then I took it to save me the drive.

Been looking at leasing and was reading up on MSDs.

Is there any reason NOT to use them to lower your MF/interest rate if you have the money available to do the max? I can't really find any downsides as it literally sounds like you are giving the dealer your money to hold and you get a pretty decent return on interest? Kind of like a CD in a bank?
