Sad Day - My New IS350 F-Sport hit a box on the freeway
Hi all,
I posted about 1 month and 1,300 miles ago about my new 2014 IS350 F-Sport ultra white w/ rioja red interior...
Well, last night as I was driving down the 91 fwy in socal, a large cardboard box was flying across the fwy and I hit it =(. I believe the box was empty thank goodness... when I inspected the damage, it mainly occurred on the lower part of the front bumper.
There is now a small and tiny scrape (not too worrisome or obvious). What is bad is a small (less than half an inch) gap between the lower grill and bumper. Fortunately, it's not too noticeable. I looked closer and the lower grill seems to have been attached to the bumper by several clamps... they ALL broke!! Luckily, the side and top of the grill still seem to be tightly attached which is why the bottom gap is minimal.
Question is: what should I do about this?

sorry to hear about that experience, unfortunately things happen. I have the same car as you and on my birthday nonetheless a large aluminum sign flew and hit the front of my car. i braced for the worst, but all i had was a scuff on my spindle grill. at the time my car wasn't even 2 months old yet =(. I've learned to live with it and save myself some $$. if you decide to change it order the part of the grill thats broken from sewell and have your dealership replace it.

I'm not sure but I want you to know you're not alone. The 1st month I had my car all kinds of **** happened. It's like I have bad new car karma. For example I'm on the 101 and a bunch of empty plastic gallon jugs come flying at me from the back of a pick up. In 2005 my brand new Acura had 4 pigeons poop on it while I waited at a stop light in Hollywood. Later that day someone threw a rock from an overpass onto the hood on the 101. It sucks but you're not alone.

After a second look and a little bit of adjusting, the gap is probably less than 1/4 inches so it's not too bad. I asked for thoughts because I figured some people will have more knowledge on this subject.
the problem with replacing parts is the grill and front bumper will need replacement which I'm guessing will cost more than 1k. I wonder if the grill and bumper can be glued or screwed together?
