Default Potential IS Buyer - question about the transmissions/shifting

Hi all, my first post here. I've been doing research on the 2014 IS and it might be my next purchase. However, I'm a bit confused about all the different trims / options how the transmission in each one performs. I've read a few reviews that say ALL the IS models rev match, but then a few threads say only the 350, or the F sport... I'm really confused was hoping somebody could just lay down the info for me.

Which models will rev match when down shifting? Is it F sport that rev matches or only the 350? Or the 350 + F sport?

I'm coming from an automatic FR-S and the shifts are NICE. Really precise, the paddle shifters / manual floor shift responds quickly and accurately. Has anybody driven one that could maybe give me and idea of what to expect compared to the FR-S/BRZ before I go in and test drive an IS?

I'm leaning towards the IS 250 RWD, non f-sport but I would change my mind if I knew it didn't rev match. Also, an unrelated note, does are fog lights installable in the F-sport model?

Thanks!

Between the IS 250 and FR-S, I'd keep the FR-S, definitely more fun.

Defintely! I love my FR-S but unfortunately I'm reaching a point in my life, sooner than I expected, that I should have 4 doors and more practicality. I test drove the WRX and that's a really fun car with tons of practicality as well, but the IS seems like a much more refined/classy car. I wanted to give it a good hard look before taking the plunge with any 4 door sedan.

You should test drive a non F Sport. I test drove the 350 F sport and it rev matches well but you can still feel the difference if you really pay attention to it.

Agreed, but only if he gets the manual transmission. If he gets the slushbox, he'll wind up with Subaru's crappy CVT. Better still, the OP should consider a '15 GTI. I drove one on Friday (with the DSG), and it's a great car. Aside from some turbo lag, the motor felt as strong as Toyota's 3.5 V6.
