Default Backing up the Navi SD Card

Hi has anyone done this or attempted it?

I was warned that it's expensive to replace (depending on your location/dealer I guess) and it is a potential target dodgy valet parking attendants etc

I copied mine to my laptop - but haven't verified that you can reinstall it on a blank SD card.

I don't wish to cause panic - but thought it was worth a post.

It's probably a good idea to back it up but I doubt you can use the data on the new card. Data is probably encrypted to prevent piracy. Map updates are not cheap.
