I experienced the same problem when my car had only 3,000 kms. on it. The local dealer disinfected the aircon evaporator by spraying some chemicals. they also replaced my aircon filter to carbon type filter. The smell improved a lot but i can't say that it is totally gone. It only happens when i start the car.

I called my local dealer and they didn't know what type or machine I was talking about. Hmm maybe ill try a different dealership

Ask to talk with the Service Manager or Shop Foreman. I bet if a customer called our dealership, the ladies that answer the phone wouldn't know either. Customers usually don't call asking about that, they just tell them their AC smells bad and make an appointment.
