2014 IS 350 F Sport Breaks
Hello ClubLexus,
Perhaps this has been discussed already, but I cant seem to find the answer. I have noticed that on the 2014 IS 350 F Sport, the breaks make excessive amount of break dust, even with soft breaking. Is there a recall from Lexus for the excessive break dust?

Last generation IS250 and IS350 was the same. I'd bet on the same with this generation IS250. It looks so ugly for the wheels honestly. Lexus got way more things to improve compared to the German high performance auto makers. I just washed my car and wheels 4 days ago and now my front wheels are darker than my rear, 2014 IS350 F Sport. I went to dealer and they measured the brake pads, 10mm for the rear and 6mm for the fronts. LoL the rear brakes are pretty much unused. Btw I've got only 7k miles on the car and the front brakes are half done already. How much do they cost for replacing again? I hope I don't need to replace the rotors as well.

I know what you mean. I have to wash the wheels each weekend to make them look presentable. Thank God the F sport has dark rims, otherwise I would have to clean them daily. I hope Lexus will address the issue soon!

You may want to consider swapping them out for the non-F Sport pads. I have them and it's been a week since my car was washed, and I have no noticeable brake dust on my wheels.

Do you notice any difference in braking performance vs the F-Sport pads, during normal/everyday driving?

Motor Trend has tested both the F Sport and the non F Sport 350, and in both tests (as in, both brakes) they both stopped from 60-0mph in 114 feet.
I suspect the F Sport brakes may hold up better against fade in a track setting, but that would not be so noticeable in typical everyday driving.

I am sure the pads are different.
On a short drive such as reviews they will stop the same. having said that I am sure that the F sport under aggressive/ track condition will hold up to the beating better than my IS 250 brakes.
get them both real hot and you should see a difference in stopping distances.
is all in the pad compound if you don't track your car than change to street pads less dust.
How hard do you drive???

So, I've been thinking about changing out my front brake pads because of the dust issue. Sewell has them for $78 (without CL discount). It also says that it's recommended to replace the shim and fit kit at the same time. Is this something that I definitely need to purchase with the pads??

Maybe after a 2nd or 3rd pad slap after fully using the brake pads..
