Bluetooth Texting Not Working
Hi guys - new to the forum and new to Lexus. Just purchased a new 2014 IS 250 with NAV and I can't seem to get my Samsung Galaxy S4 to pair text messages with my car. When I pair my phone with the car via bluetooth, audio and phone connect just fine. I get my contact list, call history, etc. However, when I goto the message icon on the PHONE screen, I get a message that says "message list cannot be downloaded." I do get the popup on my phone that asks for various permissions, whenever I pair for the first time, and I say yes to each one. The fine folks at the dealership said they had to investigate further. We were able to pair an iphone to my car without any problems. Any thoughts?

Hey erickdavid,
I have an iphone and text message isn't working with my car. I am planning to ask the dealership some time this week. Will let you know if they have something different.

I have the same issue. Had dealer service advisor sit with me in the car. He couldn't get it to work either. Will try the settings again as referenced in other post.

Not sure how to get it to work on Android phones but iPhones you have to go to the Bluetooth settings and click the little logo next to "Lexus IS" and turn on "show notifications".

Bluetooth Text Not Working
I tried going to Bluetooth/Settings. Unfortunately, it did not work. Cannot click on the "I" next to Lexus. I have an I phone 4s As mentioned in my former post, the dealer service has no idea either. Would be interested to see someone post a video if they can actually get this to work.

I was able to talk to my service advisor. He got in touch with the tech dept and told me that right now Bluetooth texting is not compatible with IPHONES because of licensing reasons. They are working on it so hopefully we hear something soon. The lexus website is displaying some misleading information. ..

check your privacy settings on your phone. on my iphone I had the notifications turned off while the phone was locked and it wasn't working. once you turn on the notifications and the texts are visible when the phone is locked, the car should receive the texts as well. This is only for receiving texts, cant send them... yet

I have a samsung s4 and texts were reading fine, until I did an upgrade on my phones software. Now we need Lexus to do an upgrade to supports the phones new software. Idk if an upgrade is out already because this happened 4 months ago. I also don't know if we need to go the dealer to get an upgrade or if we can do it from our car. I have gone to the software upgrade on our navigation screen but no new upgrade option pops out.

I have an iPhone 5S, have "show notifcations" enabled on the phone but I have to admit that it works sometimes and sometimes not. It's never consistent. Sometimes I have to reboot the NAV system then re-pair my phone to the car just to get them talking to each other again. Rather frustrating.
Ever since I purchased the car in late March, I could only get the text audio notification feature (where the radio volume dims and you can hear the text notification sound come through the car's speakers) to work then suddenly one day, the visual text feature starting working completely out of the blue. I hadn't changed any settings recently either.
Without further testing, I really can't tell if it's on iOS issue or something to do with the car's programming code in the NAV system. Maybe it's being caused by near by interference. I dunno.
