Default Is it required/necessary to tip the people at dealer car wash?

Before you all saying I should wash the car by myself, yes I know I took it in to wash by the dealer...but I'll do the waxing and other stuff later...

Is it necessary to tip the guys there after free car wash from dealer? I'm in Texas..

If so, how much?

The reason being the guy was giving me a mouth full saying thank you for coming in etc...(feeling he wanted a tip) I was in a rush so I didn't tip and left...

Maybe I should of tip?

Not sure how it is in Texas but the dealer in my area you can't even see the people that wash the car. My dealer car wash sucks anyway.

Yeah, you don't see them at my dealership either. I would say yes because it would be a nice thing to do especially considering that the servicing is free and the car wash is complimentary.

No tipping scenario ever presented itself for me since my Service Rep always hands me my car or its already parked outside waiting for me.

At full service car washes, yes. At the dealership, I never tip for complimentary washes.

if you are bothered, you really should bring this to the general manager's attention as it isn't standard, as far as i know, to have said service people visible to you at lexus dealerships let alone have them present the car in lieu of the service consultant. i mean, it might be to your benefit to mention that neighboring/regional dealerships have service consultants present the vehicle to their patrons rather than the kids washing the cars. that, and showing the face of the service worker compromises the overall service experience, however horrible that may sound. there are certain general standards that luxury marques should follow, though, in my opinion.

The dealership made at least $5,000 off you invoice or not, if you want to tip find the guy who did it but you can do a better job yourself and not scratch it up in the process.

If the dealership made that much on just the purchase of the car then you paid too much.

Proper edicate says that you should tip. I gave the gentlemen $10 when I picked up the car after he washed it and put just the back tag on.

I work at a dealer, even though the people who get their car washed don't see the actual person they give it to the service cashier and rellay it to the person who washed their car. They usually tip about $5-$10.

I have to wonder the definition of mouthful. Longo was chill and polite. I guess they may have known, because I am starting to grey and was wearing a Los Angeles Kings polo, that I was there to do business.

Maybe the guy just overdid it from your personal perspective.

Most of the time, these dealership washes are "ok". Usually come out no better then how you brought it. (most of us take good care of our car).

When I had my 3IS, after they replaced my steering wheel, they washed my car, and once I got the car back, I noticed a shoe print on the rear bumper like someone kicked it.

I was like, wth is that. But didn't really care since I was trading it in for a Q.

If they do a good job, they're nice friendly folks, and an opportunity to tip the person who actually did it presents itself, I would always tip.

If you don't want it scratched, I wouldn't let the dealer wash it. Just my experience.
