Does anyone else miss the smell of leather in their F-Sports?
Just wondering... I love everything about my car, including the F-Sport seats. They're so comfortable, and while I was initially really worried about buying a Lexus with fake leather, the quality of the Nuluxe has proven me wrong. It has a nice feel to it, looks like leather, and is definitely more durable, which I now love. That said, if given the option by Lexus and a do-over, I still would have chosen genuine leather seats, and one major reason is the smell. Unlike the "new car smell," quality leather seats often give off a satisfying smell forever, and it's one of the very few things I miss about my other cars compared to the 3IS. Lexus, in particular, always has a really nice leather compared to other manufacturers. Does anyone else feel this way? As a rule, I'm normally very against using any type of air freshener, etc. as I keep my car very clean, and I prefer the way it naturally smells; however, I might reconsider, and I was wondering if anyone else has come across any special cleaning product or freshener, etc. that brings back that familiar, luxurious smell of real leather?

Mine is not an F Sport, but nonetheless I do have NuLuxe. Indeed I do miss the smell of genuine leather, but it's not enough to make me ever want to go back to leather. The leather in my RX, which smells fantastic, requires constant work to keep clean and minimize wear. NuLuxe is fantastic, I am just not crazy about the smell.

I agree with you 100%.
Although the pleather Lexus uses is among the best I've ever felt and seen, the nice plastic and carpeting new car smell will fade. I have no idea what to do about the air freshener situation, but I suspect that it's going to be a requirement by this winter. Any leather conditioners probably won't help or add any particular scent, so I'm not going to bother.

I didn't know how to quantify it before but I guess I do. I also keep my car very clean and prefer the natural scent (no fresheners) so when ever someone gets in they always compliment the car saying it still has the new car smell but they've said that about all my cars ...even the one I kept 11 years. To me though, there is very little smell. Not like my previous cars, which did have leather (or some form of it). I don't miss the wrinkling leather does 4TehNguyen mentioned but I do miss the smell.

I personally have never felt Lexus leather seats had much of a leather smell. I read one time thats intentional because the smell of leather is offensive to the Japanese...no clue whether thats true or not.
Anyways, if you want a leather smell product I would recommend Griot's Leather Scent.

Spray one little spritz under the seats when you wash the car and it has a nice leather scent IMHO...

The leather smell in my GS died a few months ago an I was depressed for a few days. Then I bought squash air freshener and I don't miss the leather smell at all anymore.
