Default Save Gas? 2014 LEXUS IS 350 F Sport

Whats an good way to save gas on this car? 2014 LEXUS IS 350 F Sport

been doing some tests and it seems that I can only get the following..
Drive with 100% Eco Mode.. 318 miles estimate apx 22.7 MPG
Drive with 100% Normal mode... 337 miles estimate apx 26.67 MPG

I basically fill up a tank once every week.. as my work is 52 miles round trip.. with possibility 20 miles a day on highways.

Numbers look pretty good to me since your commute is 40% highway.

I drive 80% - 90% highway for my commute (mostly normal mode with bit of sport/sport+ to merge in) and best MPG on a full tank on my car since January is 24 MPG. I think this will get little better as MN weather gets warmer but I don't see it going much higher than 26 MPG.

Hello Helterran,

First off, welcome to the forums! Glad to see a new IS owner here. ClubLexus has a ton of useful information and I'm sure you will find out quickly that about 90% of the topics you think of have been discussed immensely.

If you click on "Search this Forum" link from the main IS Third Generation page (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...eneration-249/), you'll be able to get to topics that were previously started and you can read/give your input there.

In relation to this topic about gas milesage, we have had three large topics on this with some comments being fairly recent:

1) Bad MPG is350 f sport: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...0-f-sport.html

2) Gas Mileage - Different Modes: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ent-modes.html

3) What kind of MPG #'s are you guys getting? https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...s-getting.html

I came across these all within a few seconds of typing "mpg" in the search box from the main IS (3G) page.

I think your question/topic might fit best with the 2nd link "Gas Mileage - Different Modes" - I would kindly request the mods to merge these topics.

Hope this helps,

~ Im2bz2p345

I drive mostly in Sport+ mode and i get about 320 gallons to the tank. The funny thing is I tried replicated my style of driving with the other modes...I get less than 1 MPG improvement so it is not worth it. What I find weird is when i get that low gas light with 12 miles left in the tank...a full tank fill up is only 15 gallons...not 17.4 ...anybody know why?

Call the extra 2 gallons your safe zone, I filled mine the other day with 12 miles left and it took 15.2 gallons

I posted this in another thread...

Gas mileage appears to be the same as the 2IS. I averaged 25-27mpg in a IS250 with very spirited driving. The 3IS250 loaner I had for a month (with 7k miles on it) gave me the same gas mileage ...well except for the tank I tried 86 octane on it - bad choice.

I currently drive a 3IS 350 and I average 22-23mpg with spirited driving in Sport mode 100% of the time with 50/50 split of freeway and city driving. My best tank was 25.2mpg driving in ECO and driving like a complete pansy (trying to avoid going over 2k rpm) - again 50/50 freeway/city split. My friend with a 2IS 350 said his 350 started off at 19/20mpg but now averages 25-27 and he only drives in Power mode.

I'm willing to guess we will see our 3IS improve over time. I don't think anyone has even had their 3IS a full year yet.

Once I changed the spark plug, the gas mileage goes up lol
Is weird, and I can't explain it as well.

My rolling average for my IS 350 F-Sport is 16.5 MPG with 90% city driving over the past 3000 miles. Mostly in normal mode, spirited driving. Sucks.

I've driver over 11,000 miles, always in Eco, rarely in traffic, and I never race around, and yet the only time I've seen over 23mpg was during long drives through the desert from LA to Vegas or Phoenix. Other than that I average around 21, with occasional swings up to 22.5. What am I doing wrong?
