Can your app allow me to enable navigation, phone, mp3 and DVD/Video functions that lock out when the car goes into motion?

No. You need hardware box from Beatsonic or Prestigious Society. You missed out on $99 group buy last month.

Exactly. That stuff is not configurable through the "official" settings that Carista can change. It needs to be hacked, and I assume that's what those hardware boxes do.

Cool, glad to hear it, let us know how it works out.

P.S. This is an old thread... we don't need the app tested on an IS anymore - we know it works

"Official" settings? Can I get access to unofficial settings via the Carista app?

Nope What I meant to say is that these are the settings that the vehicle actually offers, without any hacking. Carista doesn't do any hacking, so there are no unofficial settings. I have no idea how those other hardware boxes work, I'm just guessing that they somehow trick the nav into thinking that the car is stationary, at least for the purposes of playing videos and such.

I just learned about this from the iPhone announcement. I got Carista OBD II from the Amazon App store. I have ordered a Bluetooth OBDII module so I can't use it yet, but the App screen only lets you check faults or reset faults. Is there another screen that appears for changing settings or do I have the wrong app? Will it become obvious once I get my adapter?

The version of Carista that's on the Amazon App Store is very, very old. It does not have any Lexus-specific functionality.

But we're planning to release the current version of Carista to the Amazon App Store very soon... hopefully within a couple of weeks (but no guarantees).

The problem is that in order to release on the Amazon App Store, we have to use Amazon's billing for in-app purchases. We can't use Google Play Billing. That's the cause of the delay. In the mean time, if you have another Android device that has Google Play Store/Services, you should be able to use the current version of Carista from there with the same Bluetooth adapter.

Great, thanks for the explanation!

I'll have to wait for the Amazon store because that's the only place I can get apps from.

Ok, I tried the Carista app in my 2015 IS350 with Lollipop 5.01 but it didn't work.
When it started it said trying to find device, I guess I don't have the device so obviously it didn't work. I thought it was only looking for Bluetooth but it's looking for the ELM327 Bluetooth adapter, which I guess is something separate from what comes with the car?

Correct, you need a separate piece of hardware: an ELM327 Bluetooth adapter: http://www.caristaapp.com/hardware/?platform=android

But in any case, this thread is from a year ago; we don't actually need someone to try the app on a 3IS anymore We have lots of customers with 3rd-gen IS models and the app works great for them

Were you able to get the new version on Amazon App Store yet?
