Default IS 250 F Sport Carbon Fiber Roof

I just picked up my new IS F sport today. It was the last car that the dealer had with red interior but it also came with a carbon fiber roof. I ended up paying $600 extra for the roof since I told them I didn't really need it. They said it retails for $1200. I tried looking up how much it actually costs thinking it was an option, but I can't find this info anywhere. Are there any other owners who have this on their vehicle? I actually love the way it looks but just curious to see if this is actually an option or if this was customized.

I assume you mean the roof was covered with carbon-fiber looking vinyl?

It has to be vinyl. Retail in CT is about $500 to supply and install with carbon fiber looking vinyl. If it happens to actually be carbon fiber $1200 is very cheap for a whole roof

Probably vinyl wrapped. I am going with glossy black instead. I was quoted between $175 to $350 to have it done at a shop. It is definitely not an option from the factory.

It's not vinyl. It's actual carbon fiber. So this isn't an option offered by Lexus? The car is brand new

That looks like vinyl to me installed very well. If it was a lexus opinion why would they leave the shark fins white because it was cut around and it would be pretty hard to cover with vinyl. Sometime dealer will do little things like that to make the car stand out from the others....rims...tint....sound system... vinyl wraps either way it looks great enjoy

Thanks for your opinion but believe me it's not vinyl. I've had vinyl wraps on my previous cars so I can tell when they're vinyl or not. Plus, I wouldn't have posted this thread if that were the case. When I open the sunroof I can see an actual layer of cf.

I'm sure it's vinyl because my roof looks exactly the same as urs and mine's wrapped with the glossy CF wrap. If you look carefully at the roof line at the edge of pillars, you clearly still see the original white paint as that part is difficult to finish with vinyl so it had to be cut before the waterline. That part is also part of the roof.

Plus an actual gel coated CF doesn't look shine like that regardless. And I honestly doubt that's real dry carbon as it would not be only $1200 for cost.

I would still guess it is vinyl/polymer/resin of some sort. It is probably not carbon fiber. Why don't you go ask you dealer where they bought it instead of asking us to speculate?

I doubt that Lexus dealer cut your factory roof and installed real carbon fiber roof.

That is definitely vinyl. I don't see a gel coat. If it didn't have it, you would be able to feel the weave. Also there would also be slight differences in the weave. It won't be perfect like on a CF vinyl wrap. If you have a chance look at an E92 M3 coupe roof. You will see and feel the difference.
