Default 3IS - Poor Voice Recognition?

Hello all

I'm probably spoiled by Google and Apple, I tried to enter an address into the 3IS nav by voice and it never picks up the correct address.
I speak perfect english with no accent if you're wondering.

I said 900 York Mills Road, Toronto a few times and it gives me different address in the States.

How are your experience with the Nav?
any tips to enter addresses correctly with voice?

My wife's 3IS voice recognition works very well. We were both very impressed with how quickly it returns correct addresses. It totally blows away our '13 ML350 and runs circles around our previous 2IS.
As far as tips, I don't have any to offer. Hopefully someone else can chime in with a few for you.

I have been experiencing the same with the voice recog, no matter how I am using it. I know how to use it, the way to use it, how to speak clearly, speak normal, ect.... I am tired of hearing "Pardon?" So, I just don't even try to use it anymore.

Say as following: street - city - state e.g. 3051 Toronto Drive, Toronto City, Toronto

the system gets 10 out of 10 when I say in that order

The voice recognition works very very well in my IS. Much better than my BMW.

I am finding the opposite with mine. All of my BMW's voice recog worked better for me than the 3IS has so far. Good thing it is my wife's car, so I don't drive it much.

Voice recognition may not be its forte but she can surely say swear words clearly.

just came back from trying voice again on the 3IS!
and i guess it was my bad the first time i tried!
i should have said Ontario for the state/province, but I said Toronto (city) instead!

i went and tried a few different addresses with salvadorik's suggestion of street, city, state and PERFECT!
the 3IS understood me everytime!

thanks again for everyone who replied!

one question now is.. everyone we press the voice button on the steering wheel, the 3IS's voice assistance comes on and tells us what to say, to skip it i would press the voice button a second time
is there a way to disable the voice assistance on the first press?
by now i'm pretty familiar with what options i can say

Yes you can disable voice assistance. Just go into settings to do this.

My experience has been awful thus far. I've not gotten it to recognize a single command I've given it. No matter how I speak, in terms of pronounciation, annunciation, speed, etc. I'll try speaking phrases conversationally, then I'll try them mechanically (using the examples on screen as a guide) and it never recognizes what I'm asking. I gave up trying to use it months ago.

However, I did get the firmware update about a month ago, maybe that improved it...haven't tried yet, so I don't know.

Sounds like you have a problem and should take it to the dealer because it works flawlessly for me.
