F sport has LED headlamp? Normal has HID????

Default F sport has LED headlamp? Normal has HID????

the lexus dealer in my country sells the IS this way. is it also also the same else where?

with my current knowledge, i suppose HID's are better than LED's?

and arent we buying the f sports as an upgrade? so arent the HID's supposed to be in the f sports rather than the normal IS's?????

or maybe someone here is able to explain how the LEDs are a better option....

My wifes has a non F sport 250 and it has LED headlights. They come with the luxury or premium packages.
It all depends on what you are looking at regarding which is better. LEDs have a long life span compared to HID (should last the lifetime of your ownership), have a far brighter white light, and draw far less power to light. HIDs I think provide a more useable light output and beam pattern, or at least compared to the LEDs on the IS. I am sure some of that has to do with the kelvin rating of the bulbs. Stock HIDs run about 4300 kelvin which is the most useable light output level. LEDs run equal to about 6000k which the light output is slightly diminished over the 4300k.
I like the look of LED better, as they match the "nike swoosh" running lights perfect.

DJ90 - what makes HID headlights "better" than the LED headlights exactly? Lost808 gave a great summary and a breakdown.

LED headlamps will cost you less over the life of your vehicle (they basically require zero maintaince). Yes, the upfront cost is higher, but you are paying for a LUXURY car. This isn't your everyday Toyota Camry type of vehicle.

Also, HIDs do not always like the cold weather, where LEDs do not care. Since HIDs use gas that needs to warm up, hence the light flicker, pause to light, and color change, the cold can mess with the gas and cause them to not light or take a while to warm up. Plus, HIDs will start to dim or change color when they age, indicating they will die soon. So, when one dies before the other, the bulbs need to be (or should be) changed in a pair or they will not match. LED will maintain their color for the life of the bulb.

LEDs will maintain its color throughout its life. But, it losses usable light every few hundred hours used. LEDs uses lesser power and lasts longer than HID. For now, it's less bright compared to HID

HID will turn blue-ER with age but it still has decent life span if it's well taken care of

The LED will last anywhere from 25K hours to 50K hours until reaching 1/2 life (exact numbers are hard to come by from manufacturers) -- which is when they will slowly begin to dim . That means if you leave your car lights on 24 hrs. a day they will burn fully bright 1041 to 2041 days or 2.85 to almost 6 years. But who leaves their lights burning 24 hours a day every day? So lets say 8 hours a day = 3123 days to 6246 days or 8.55 years to 17 years. But who has their lights on 8 hours a day every day? And so on. Someone may want to check my math but I'd say they should last until you hit about 120K to 250K miles. Very loose estimations on my part but gives you an idea.
