Tinted Rear Lamps & Reflectors
My car is at the body shop now; I want them to paint tint the rear lamps and reflectors.
I don't want it to be too dark, but also not too light. Anyone have any good pictures of tinted rear lamps, so I can show them what I like and what I don't?
Thanks!

Here are pictures of mattding's car:
I'd probably want a little lighter in color.
Otherwise, should I have them tint the entire lamp or do the cutouts shown?
Additional pictures welcome.
Thanks.

Having some body work done and discussed having rear lamp tinting ‘included’.
Shop said they're not able to include if they have to remove the lamps, but that they can include if the lamps are left on and masked. I agreed.
Shop called to say they’re almost done, but not able to easily do lamps on the car and that even if they were to remove them, the bumper would have to be removed to remove the lower reflectors.
Anyone have any idea if it’s true the rear bumper has to be removed to remove the reflectors!?
Thanks.

Hey dbs...here are a few shots of how I tinted my reflectors. I am debating on whether on not to pull the taillights and tint them a little. But if you just mask off the area around the bumper and the reflector, it's easy to paint with VHT night shades. The screws holding the reflectors in are almost impossible to get to without dropping the bumper, which I wasn't going to tackle.

Wow; your reflectors and rear looks great, DexRox512! Thank you for sharing!
Love the debadged look with the black pearl emblems and exhaust.
You should definitely consider tinting your lamps as well.
And thank you for the product recommendation:

Did the paint run at all or is it completely smooth?
Also, is there a way of controlling the darkness of the tint or does it come out very dark with just one pass?

It initially came out a little too glossy for me...so the next morning I scrubbed them with a mr clean magic eraser which dulled the look a bit and kind of "matte'd" them...I am happier with that look.

Thanks man ! It was pretty easy...I may do the tails as well, but don't want them too dark. The paint ran a tiny tiny bit on the right side...I think cause I wasn't moving the can fast enough and applied too much on the first coat. This is basically with one coat and then a minor touch up after it dried. I would say from 1 foot or so away. I was shocked at how dark it got, but when light hits it, the red comes through perfectly. I would say if you want to go further away, you could possibly get them lighter, but you'll have to mask off more of the car because you don't want any over spray. The biggest thing about getting anything right with paint is the prep. Obviously take your time to mask everything off...you can never have too much tape or too much newspaper. And also make sure you clean the reflector with alcohol before applying.
