Hey

Just signed tonight for a 2014 Lexus IS350 with the Executive Package in Starlight Black Mica on Flaxen leather.

This is my first Lexus, first Japanese car since 1997, first non BMW in recent history. I have many family members and friends with Lexus and have always liked them, but was never brought over to this side if the fence. I have driven RX's mainly but the fact that I am not a crossover or SUV fan, I just never gave Lexus the opportunity.

I test drive the IS350 today and I was SOLD. I also drove a GS350 but it didn't have the same nimble handling and feel as the IS. This is a huge change for me as I am coming from an F02 BMW 740Li xDrive. I had a few objectives with looking for a car.... Lower my monthly costs so I can invest more money long term and get something that I can take to a track and not be feeling like I am out at sea on a cruise liner. The IS350 did it for me. I was blown away.

Anyways, thought I would say hey and introduce myself.... I will post up some pics on Friday when I pick up my car

Steve

Congrats!

I too have an F02 BMW 7 Series, a 750Li xDrive Individual!

Are you on bimmerfest or bimmerpost? If so, what's your username there?

Yes, the 3IS drives unlike any other Lexus, and I've received many compliments to boot!

Thats a big jump from a F02 to a 3IS I bet youre missing that torque from the N55 though.

One thing I miss on the Lexus, performance-wise, which my Mercedes and BMW have is the kick down 'button' behind the accelerator pedal for that extra boost...

Does any Lexus model have this?

Seeing as the IS is a smaller lighter car, I don't think I will miss the low end torque. During the text drive I was not missing much!

Yes I was on both BMW sites under 'vwtobmw'

I guess I should have made my username here to be vw2bmw2lexus lol

Yes, my IS350 AWD F Sport drives (engine and transmission), handles (suspension and wheels) and feels (seats and steering wheel) GREAT.

As you know the 7 Series seats are some of the best ever made! While the IS' seats still aren't as good, they're as close as can be!

Otherwise, (unfortunately), my 3IS absorbs road imperfections better than my 7 Series, which has run flats. :|

I see you've posted on my "Terrible Loaner" thread; LOL. :|

Great to have someone here who can relate to my perspective!

ALSO, did mpg's factor into your purchase?

My IS350 replaced a Range Rover and I was expecting AT LEAST 17 mpg's, but I'm lucky if it gets 14 mpg's; so, I'm very disappointed w/r/t same. :|

Congrats on your new IS350 purchase and welcome to the wonderful world of Lexus! As a new owner of IS350 RWD, I too was blown away by the car. Test drove the BMW 335i and it paled in comparison to my IS. The IS350 has the best of both worlds--luxury and performance so for me it was an easy decision to make. It's been 3 months since I got my car and I still love my ride and so do my friends and family.

There is a button behind my accelerator pedal. Don't know what it does. Been searching in the book and can't find anything. Is this a kick down button?

PS - F02 is the Long Wheelbase 7 Series. Its a 740 Li xDrive 2013

Just the X1, though. All others have been fine; 328, 335, 528, 535, X5, X6(!!)...

Congratulations on your Lexus purchase. I'm still amazed that I've owned the IS for almost four months with no service visits to the dealer. For the ES, it's almost a year old with ZERO problems.

There are several things that you will find lacking compared to the BMW, but the positives of a Lexus outweigh the negatives.
