What I usually do is turn on my car in the morning for 2-5 minutes. While I grab the stuff I need for work. It only takes me 5 to 10 minutes to get to work. I was reading recently that it was bad to warm up your engine for than a minute. And that all the gases are bad for your health if you warm up in the garage, even with the garage door open. That the gases go into your house.

well, obviously what comes out of the exhaust pipe is bad for your health in extreme doses. if you ran it in a closed garage with you in it, itd kill you in probably less than an hour. But depending on which way your car is facing with the garage open you should be ok. If you back into your garage and the exhaust is aimed into the garage, it will fill with gasses before they go out the door. Its happened to me a couple of times where the carbon monoxide detector in the house(attached to garage) went off from doing that for 10 minutes. Always drive forward into your garage to avoid gas and carbon monoxide gasses in your house.

I live in ny. So it's cold up here right now but as rule of thumb I always let the car sit for about 2-3 minutes on cold mornings.

I always pull in forward, the exhaust it's always pointing out of the garage.
